Canceled Sapphire ATI Radeon 9250 256MB AGP-card..

I just ordered Sapphire ATI Radeon 9250 256MB 128-bit AGP-graphic board
from www.komplett.no for total 575 NOK! There is something i wonder about..

Say when i get the board and replace the 9200-board with the new 9250, should
i then go into Picasso96 Mode from my OS4-partition or from the Update 1 CD,
then re-attach the screenmodes there by the new name Radeon 9250 and SAVE it,
then reboot, and then re-choose the screenmode again?

Just wonder

@Helgis

I do not think you will need to use the CD.

Is it such a big step up from a 9200 to a 9250?

@Helgis

You know a Radeon 9250 is a Radeon 9200 with reduced frequency?
ATI and numbers =

@All

I chose it because there will be 3D-drivers for it soon, and i guess it's
slightly faster than the 9200...

@Helgis

The chip is slower than the one in 9200, (unless Sapphire tech has overclocked it).

It isn't a bad buy though, since you got a card with 256mb instead of 128mb of memory.
(just noticed... you allready got a 256mb 9200 in your tag... )

@Helgis

To get a real improvement over the 9200, look for a 9800 Pro, or possibly 9800XT.
Or simply wait and see which PCIe cards will work and be supported further on.

Dude - it sounds like you've already got all the hardware you need - why not buy yourself some nice software instead? :)

@Helgis

May I suggest the following software for start:

Audio Evolution OS4 Version
Hollywood OS4 Version
Latest version of ImageFX

I would personally not buy the sound card until you have something decent to use on it.

Rude!

@Rudei

DaveAE adviced me to go for the TerraTec soundcard, and get ride of the SB card.
The softwares will come anyway, and TerraTec has much better sound and clear
Bass, which i need

It's funny, but i came to see a test result of Radeon 9200 and 9250.
9250 is 10Mhz slower than the 9200, so 9200 is better

Graphics card inflation, the number goes up but the speed/value goes down

I dunno man. I've been using the SBLive! 5.1 since day one
and have had no unsolvable problems at all. It produces 6
speaker sound under linux and 5 speaker surround with OS4.
I can play 2 MIDIs and a DVD all at the same time with no
problems on either system.

The only way I'll give up that card is when somebody forces
it out of my cold dead hand.

It is a complex card, but I believe well worth the effort
to make it work. My 2p

@Helgis
Ive just got hold of a Sapphire Radeon 9200 256mb.
Looking forward to using it when the Newer warp3d drivers are available for it.

You're right. Looking forward for the Warp3D-drivers for 9200

After that we'll see OpenGL Mesa, which is the way forward in term
of 3D-graphic for Amiga

@Helgis

If you have the audio+network crash with your SBlaster
then the best thing is just like Dave told you
Buy that terratec card :)

When i replaced my Audigy2 with the ESI Juli@ card
this was the best thing i did. No lockups more :)

The only thing i dont like with the Juli@ card is that
it doesnt have any headphone connection. And no CD in
connection. hmmmm i just remind me that it has some
Digital in connections. Maybe i can find some sort of
cable that works for dvd->juli@. However i can still play
cd's using amplifier as the CDfilesystem can play the
tracks as .aiff. Im babbling to myself. hehehe sorry.
