hi there,
i dunno if this is the good forum..
i wanted to tell,

i got my amigaone xe g4800mhz yesterdaywith
- sil board
- sound blaster live
- radeon 7000 (probably the 1st stuff i'll change)
- 512mb of ram
- 3 hdd
- 1dvd reader (next stuff to change.. need a burner)

i got it second hand from a friend.. of course, i spent all night on it ;)
now today i'm completly devastated at work.. (where's the coffee pot?)
i've been waiting so long ...

hyperion did an amazing job .. i just can't beleive it..
now what's next? .. looking forward to support community by buying software and trying to port some stuffs. (i'm really beginner at programing, but i guess some sdl ports or the like, should be possible)

sometimes i've been rude here and elsewere on the various forums.. i appologize, i'll try to keep myself cooler..
well that's it .. now the only missing stuff is probley:

Welcome to the expanding club !

Now you just need to go to OS4Depot, download a lot of stuff... Including Ken's Icons...
Then Installed e-UAE...
Then give us your first impression/feedback...

And then start programing/porting/testing, BUT most of all, Enjoy it !

Jerry

As he bought it 2ndhand, the former owner probably did NOT enjoy it that much! I hope he does a better job.

One owner added to the balance, one subtracted, nett result: no change. But anyway welcome!

Or he just bought a MicroA1... I know some A1-XE owners selling their A1-XE to buy a MicroA1 (but not me).

@freaks

Great! I'm still waiting for my new-generation Amiga. A friend of mine who also has the A1XE tells me that the USB ports have a problem. Unless yours has been sent in for repair, a good work-around is to get a self-powered USB hub and use only the ports on that.

Have a great time with your new-generation A1000!

Although I might add that his XE took my 256MB Lexar Jumpdrive no problem using only the standard USB ports, even with the power issue.

Excellent. Another potential developer joins the ranks.

We're trying to get the SDK to the point where you can just configure+make for the easier ports so virtually anyone can join in and have some fun porting software. Then when you get more confortable you can tackle your own pet projects. Heck if ToAks can do it, anybody can.

Only the ones that enjoy the AmigaOne count. So, our number is up by one!

I sort of like the way you put that....
As the previous owner of freaks machine I am quite sad to leave the amiga scene myself too.
I was a big Amiga user in their heyday in the UK and had a pretty wickedly decked out A2000 at the time.
I sort of lost interest at the time because of the move to AGA (I had no way of upgrading my machine and couldn't afford a new one at the time) and had developed a new interest (that persists to this day - Japanese women.... ).
Money is less of a problem these days so I bought my A1 to rekindle fond memories of my Amiga owning days.. However although I was using it as much as I could while I first had it... I always felt that I had fallen out of touch too much and wasn't making enough use of it.
The final straw though was that for two very unrelated incidences I wasn't able to use my A1 board for two long periods.
Firstly I sent my motherboard back to my vendor to get the USB/DMA update plus an exchange of the CPU (promised when I first purchased it). This took much longer than expected with some falling out/misunderstanding with my vendor.
After finally getting back my A1, around a month later I broke my wrist rollerblading... This has meant that computing activity has reverted to one finger typing...

2 months later it still looks like my broken wrist is going to take forever to heal and I have basically lost my appetite for hobby computing...

As for my AmigaOne board, I sort of feel like a cat lover that has been given a kitten he cannot cope with and has had to pass it to a good home

btw neither freaks nor myself are actually Japanese we just live here
