I hope i am wrong but maybe OS4.1FE really is the final edition of Amiga OS. Or maybe Aeon will do future OS revisions in house.

@g01df1sh

it can be. I heard (I think from Gutjahr) that there are a lot of unpaid bills for the existing version so no money to develop 4.2. So I assumed the situation would stay how it is and not that they are bankrupt soon after selling FE.

I do not know the legal procedures in belgium, in germany court appoints a attorney who looks at the assets. At this point of time former owner(s) have no say anymore.

Geez... a really sad day... we are again in the land of uncertainty regarding AmigaOS Development and future... when it seems there is some hope, it really there isn't. I wonder if Trevor/AEON will take over...

Cheers,
D.

@OlafS25

This whole thing makes no sence why would Trevor Aeon invest 1.2 Million on X5000 project. With no new OS to take advantage of the multi CPU and extra performace. Kind of makes the X1000 a dead horse as well with regards to multi cpu support?

@g01df1sh

I do not know... I think acquiring the rights would be the cheaper part, the bigger problem (and more expensive) is to continue development of the OS. I do not know if Trevor is willing to spend really money without big chance to get investment back. If 4.2 ever becomes reality I do not know. I was very surprised when I read the news.

funny enough close bankruptcy was an expected reason for the os4fe reduced price final sell off by some posters on mobunny not that long ago. looks like they were right again.

what happens now? will this become another asset of aeon?

@wawa

I never really understood the OS4.1 "license". Is Hyperion's "permission" to make OS4 an asset that will be sold/transferred, or is this "the end"?

I'm guessing the owners just weren't prepared to keep shoving money in to shore the business up. Letting it go is the best thing to do, for them, if it wont make a profit (which it obviously didn't). I'm curious to know how the mess will be untangled. Be interesting to see how much value is put on the business/customer base.

Oh well.

EDIT: The REALLY interesting thing about this is: what will Trevor do? What's the chance of him going in and buying the lot at a auction price? Hmmmm,

Wowzer, a sad day for AmigaOS 4.x contributors and supporters.

Doesn't AmigaOS ownership revert back to Amiga Inc in such a case?

I think it is time to buy OS 4 and make it open source.

An amusing thought, but after perusing the settlement agreement the bankruptsy clause only covered Amiga Inc, not Hyperion.

Interesting times may be ahead.
