Like everything else in life, keep meaning to but never get round to it.
Should do it now I suppose now I have been reminded.
I take it most people who have read it would reccomend it?

Not to worry, just pretend the poll is about Dyson vaccuum cleaners, they really do suck

And yes I have been a subscriber for several issues now, I handed Rhino a small wad of cash at BB3 to renew my subscription.

Voted yes! It's an excellent magazine, perhaps the last English language Amiga journal surviving, and a credit to the production team! Well done

I just wish I could buy a new copy every month!

Personally i dont like printed magazines, and there is no option to buy a pdf version iirc, so i guess i get all my news from the net.

What do you read in the john?

For regular daily news I get most from the internet, but I do like to keep an interestingly stocked magazine rack in the bathroom.

(Mostly catalogs like Sharper Image, Lands End, etc, but there's a few magazines in there, Popular Science/Mechanics, National Geographic, assorted old Amiga magazines, Boot(RIP) , Maximum PC, etc)

edit- I guess I just blew the resale value of all my old mags with the public disclosure of where I store them!

@Mikey_C

I'd liked to re- subscribe but the visa card really had a technical problem as I asked this before. Other options for payment are not possible for me.
I hope to get "todays" issue with the next one after the card gets renewed.
(Card is not mine personally so thats why it's so slow but what can I do..)
Hope my parents do come soon so I can borrow their card and pay back (as the game payback) for the "rent". I'll never get a visa card just for this mag as no other use, sorry.

Why, why cannot just transfer euros with an IBAN code or something from my Nordea bank???? Or Paypal, it asks a visa etc number... Money is not an issue for many I think but the payment methods just are the problem and mostly a bad thing for Amiga Shareware and other online things.

Hope to get subscribed shortly...

Best Regards: PR

@Mikey_C

I'd like to be able to download a PDF version of the magazine - that is,
the same day it's released :) I'd pay for that.

I think at 600 copies/month it's time to go forth into the wider UK community - has anyone promoted it in AmigaMart or similar?

Sven is kind enough to mention us occasionally, I'm not sure when the last time was though.

Broader advertising is a bit tricky, I'm sure there are Amigans who don't regularly frequent Amiga websites but it's hard to think of ways to reach them on a small budget.

Thanks for your support too BTW!

Robert

We've considered offering a PDF subscription option but decided against it for a number of reasons, the following FAQ from our web site explains them:

Quote:

Can I receive Total Amiga as a PDF download instead of or in addition to my paper subscription copy?

We currently have no plans to offer the current issue as a PDF download. The reasons for this policy are as follows:

As a not for profit publication, we can only charge for Total Amiga based on our costs. As a PDF version of the magazine would be nearly free to produce we would have either give it away or charge a very small fee. Doing this would risk sales of the printed version of the magazine.

One of our long-term aims is to further improve the print quality of Total Amiga. In order to do this we need to increase the number of copies we sell in order to offset the higher fixed costs of alternative printing methods. If some subscribers switched the PDF delivery of the magazine this would reduce the print run and thus move us away from our goal.

Total Amiga is currently the only English language print Amiga magazine available. Many readers appreciate this and we feel offering a PDF version could limit the viability of the print version as explained in the points above.

Finally there is the practical side of offering the magazine for download. These include managing user accounts, setting up a secure web server and the possibility that "pirate" copies of the magazine could be spread.

Please note that Total Amiga will continue to offer our out-of-print back issues in PDF format as free downloads for everyone to enjoy.

I do and I too love the mag! Many thanks to all of the people, the editors and contributors, for all of the effort they put into each issue. I look forward to each issue with great anticipation. In a way that I can't really exaplain, a good Amiga mag has always served to keep me exited about the Amiga and connected with the rest of the Amiga community at large...no matter what was going on with the owners of Amiga technology and/or brand that month! ;^)

@rhino

I'm also one that would subscribe if I could get a pdf version at the same time the print issue is delivered. I know there are some problems inherent to an electronic issue. I wouldn't be nearly free to produce. Is the price of the print version all printing and postage related costs? You would just have to remove them from the cost of a PDF version then factor in costs for hosting the file and cost of bandwith of downloads.

@Mikey_C

Yeah I subscribe. Everything is fine but it's such awhile between issues that it's easy to lose interest. Guess that may sound like a paradox (interest should rise when waiting for good news) but reading newspapers and magasines is much of a hait and really should be fed often!

Of course I understand that to fill a mag every month with newsworthy news might be a bit hhard in this market atm!

Keep up the good work! I'll take a good magazine over a .pdf on a comptuer screen any day!
