Just saw the sad news at EAB, originally posted by Acid Software on their FB page https://www.facebook.com/acidsoftware/posts/it-is-with-great-sadness-that-i-share-this-tragic-newsmark-sibly-died-at-the-beg/603004022372749/

Sincerest condolences to his family and friends. I am sure I'm not alone in fondly remembering Gloom and Super Skidmarks.

And despite being a "C" guy, I have a very soft spot for Blitz Basic. The only one I ever really enjoyed doing things with. I've still got the manual.

@Karlos

Yes, what a great and inspiring man! He was a bright light in the Amiga community just as I bought an Amiga for the first time in 1995! I'm still the proud owner of Ultimate Blitz Basic 2, The Acid Collection and completed our first 'Blitz Out' Amiga Format magazine coding project this Summer! My son loved it! Mark's legacy will live on! I will pray for those he has left behind.

@Karlos

Gloom is one of my favourite Amiga games. Really sad news. RIP.

@Thread

He also coded my favourite Amiga game, Guardian! What an achievement. It used to be one of the ways I would relax between bouts of GCSE revision. If fast jet training was like Guardian CD32/3D Defender I'd be an enlisted Earth Defence Force pilot now but Mark still instilled a real love for arcade gameplay that continues to this day! RIP Mark.

@Yssing

Indeed. It's a shame he doesn't have a Wikipedia page. Blitz Basic does.

@Karlos

Now at least as a search term (redirecting to the Blitz Basic article). Creating a dedicated article would have been a gargantuan task, because notability requirements for people are high on EN wiki.

@Karlos

Thanks for the link Karlos. That's the first time I've seen a photo of what he looked like! It's sad knowing that you'll never get to meet a person that inspired you as a kid. RIP Mark.

@Karlos

Finding a working Defender arcade cabinet in Gloom was a fun memory. Not sure if something like this exists in any other games.
