"So the cruesoe is like a super processor?"

Well, there are limitations. It is not as fast as the real thing per MHz.

"Could it even be programmed on a board so that you could select the type of processor you want it to be and have it boot?"

Years ago I read that the code morpher can be updated on motherboard. Not sure if it could be replaced (including northbridge) totally without taking the chip off the board.
Nowdays I think x86 morphing has stabilized so that there might be crusoes where the code morpher is totally fixed.

" Would it also be good for emulation?"

I think it can not be changed on the fly or per application. And in the end ... crusoe itself is like JIT emulator.

"A processor that can be anything and runs cool sounds like the best processor in the world "

Almost. There are other needs where some other alternatives apply better.
Tthey are not as cheap or powerful as some other CPUs for desktop and server use.
I think crusoe might also lack multimedia extensions.

Crusoe chips have been used in almost every "bigger than PDA size" products.

For power management crusoe has it's own extremely flexible way of tuning it's power consumption according to the application load.

I think it can not be…

- Crusoe isn't as fast per MHz compared to real CPUs, but offers flexibility in power and potential for customization through code morphing or x86 emulation.
- It can be programmed on a board with an updatable motherboard component (code morpher), though total replacement of components like northbridge might require chip removal.
- Crusoe is suitable for applications needing adaptable processing capabilities, although it may not excel in multimedia or cost efficiency compared to other CPUs.
- It's highly customizable and efficient at power management due to its ability to adjust energy consumption according to workload demands.
