@Hammer
Well the 100% AMD thing... first of AMD produces also ARM SoC's
Secondly Sony is hiring people with ARM skills:
https://twistedvoxel.com/playstation-preparing-for-shift-to-arm-architecture-for-ps6/

This is newer info than the pure 100% AMD statement but also doesn't speak against the first one, as AMD could produce a custom ARM soc with AI enhancements to reduce the pure power needed to draw awesome gfxs.... so maybe they shifted and ran both options in parallel... we will see ; )

@phoenixkonsole

This is interesting. So RISC is making a comeback. ARM is taking over where PPC left off. Well ARM already took over the PPC market which also went dead in the embedded space almost. I wonder if they'll do a custom ARM CPU like they did with Cell? Given Apple has one of the best ARM cores around I wonder how they beat or even match Apple Silicon? Well, Macs were always second best to games, so I'm sire they'll think of something.

@phoenixkonsole

The PS4 includes a secondary ARM processor (with separate 256 MiB of RAM) to assist with background functions and OS features.

From Google translate
Quote:

We develop systems that allow programs developed for our entertainment game devices to run on game devices with different architectures. Specifically, we aim to make it possible for many game titles developed for PlayStation to run on systems with new architectures.
This system is required to have a mechanism that makes it easy to analyze malfunctions when problems occur.

This could cover non-PlayStation platforms.

A gaming PC with a dominant NVIDIA CUDA GpGPU family is not a PlayStation architecture.

PS5 GPU is missing most of DirectX12U's features i.e. missing mesh shaders (including task or amplification shader), and variable rate shading.

PS5 GPU forked from RDNA 1 with RDNA 2's raytracing. PS5 GPU's primitive shaders are from RDNA 1.

Xbox Series X and PC RDNA 2's DirectX12U features are influenced by NVIDIA's RTX Turing.

Both AMD's RDNA 1 and NVIDIA's Turing offered different next-generation graphics pipelines (NGGP). Microsoft selected NVIDIA's Turing NGGP path and imposed changes on RDNA.

Windows Radeon drivers don't recognize PS5 APUs with active IGP in BC-250 SKU i.e. only VGA mode.

PS4's Bloodborne running on PC's PCSX4 (PS4 emulator).
