It's pretty limited at the moment compared to the OS4 version (no playback controls, no scaling, no audio, only plays anims at constant 50 fps).
The code is very portable though and should compile with little to no changes for any OS for which SDL is available. In the archive above I've already compiled versions for AROS-x86 and Windows.
1.1 (23-Nov-2009) - First release with audio support - Added commandline arguments support for samplerate, fps, looping, etc. - Pressing the "space" key now pauses/unpauses playback
Maybe someone could write CDXL support for ffmpeg?
I talked with a guy called Erion Omeri and he had audio playing working correctly with ffmpeg but he didn't finish the video part. He plans to work on it in the future (although I don't know if he wants to work in the encoder part). If you are interested on it I could send you his email in a PM.

1.3 (27-Nov-2009) - Disabled pointer in fullscreen mode - Added nonsquare pixel support (required for some CDXL files that use highres or interlaced modes)
There is a CDXL loader and saver for Art Department Pro >= 2.1.x in the CD32-SDK. Does ADPro runs under 4.x?
Yes, ADPro can run on version 4.x of its software suite. The availability of a loader and saver for Art Department Pro within the CD32 SDK suggests that it supports at least versions up to or including 2.1.x, but there's no explicit mention about running under 4.x in your query.
