@clusteruk

Does Sam460ex/cr (Flex-ATX) fit with low profile cards installed?

Thank you for that. I am having trouble finding official information on this A1222. I prefer a valid source rather than personal project or rumour but I see little concerning A1222 on http://www.a-eon.com/, only some information in a blog. How does one order the board?

Never mind this seems to be the wrong thread for this kind of pondering. I shall look elsewhere. My apologies!

Well I wondered this, I could make it fit but only if it runs MorphOS

@AmeegaGuy

You are correct in that there is very little information regarding this board and at the moment there is no release date other than the latest comment from Trevor stating that it is still alive and will be ready by the time the Checkmate 1500 case is ready for sale.

Probably the best info I have seen is from trevors bolg. Do a google search for a1222 trevors blog and you will see the last entry by Trevor Dickinson with some info as of March.

Also google A1222 and you can find some specs for the machine with some pics of the board showing it to be MINI-ITX form factor.

Unfortunately there is precious little more info than that at this point and very little I am afraid since 2015 when it was first announced.

The main details I remember are that it is still alive... Last I saw they were having trouble completing the sound drivers and nic drivers and since both of those items are mounted on the board they really need to complete them. (And lack of expansion slots means they do not want to simply provide a 3rd party solution for these items even though this has been done in the past.)

My opinion is we are also waiting due to the ongoing litigation with Hyperion and A-AEON.. Nothing has been stated that this is an issue but my gut feeling is this is the real sticking point and has a very real chance of killing the entire project. A LOT of people very tired of waiting and are now spending their cash elsewhere while those two companies bicker over a long dead carcass, but hey whatever.. Nothing AMIGA has ever been related in any fashion to a workable business plan so why should it change now? Just continues to be a cadaver for rich folks to fight over... Long wasted franchise squandered by amazingly petty people that make horribly stupid decisions.. Repeatedly..

And here we are... 2018 and the ghost of Tramiel is still ever present..
Patheitic. I am simply hoping to get my A1222 so I can play with it... Really nothing much more anyone can hope for but that. And that may be asking too much.

The outcome of that won't be known until early 2020 at best, so I hope your gut is wrong.

I think you mean Hyperion & Cloanto?

Anyway, back on topic. I hope Stephen's Checkmate A1500 Kickstarter project is successful. The recent renders released by Stephen look really cool. Not only has he remained faithful to the classic Commodore lines he has made sure that the case supports A-EON's Tabor/A1222 Next-generation AmigaOne motherboard.

Interesting, will have to give MorphOS a go sometime on my 460.

Would be nice bonus if the case supported the Sam460 so there is a PPC option other than Tabor.

Donated tiny sum, can not afford/dear to order the case just now...

It would be for my SAM440ep ... but also this case might be good reason to not to buy X5000, but A1222 instead.... Unless there pops up X5000Lite in micro-ATX size...

DAMN, it looks so insanely cool to my amigan eyes.

Let's use the exact title:
Quote:
Hyperion Entertainment C.V.B.A. et al v. Itec, LLC et al

Just because the perceived focus is on Cloanto and Hyperion doesn't mean they're the only ones involved. Hence "etal".

Thanks for the support I know not everyone can afford one of these cases.

I like your ulterior motive idea; I hope that it's ultimately successful, whatever happens in the next few days.

Well I got into a discussion with a Raspberry Pi person, who wasn't impressed by the cost of the case.
He said you would have to be a real Amiga fanboy.
I agreed and said well that's pretty much the point to a large degree but if you wanted to do the full Amiga retro experience with a Pi, this is a great opportunity.

He then went on to express surprise that 50k had been pledged.
I explained that there was a thriving Amiga community albeit split into factions.

I told him about the port of AROS to the Pi and that got him interested and he said he would look into that.

So maybe not another case sale but I would say that was a success.
Generating interest outside the Amiga community is always a good thing.

@TiredofLife

To be fair, we need to not only bring the old Amigan's back to the fold but also fresh blood.

There are lots of ways of doing this by making Amiga cool and relevant again but you do not do that by infighting, you do it by all pushing forward together and having a real plan for all Amiga camps to buy into. I have even written about this in my chapter in David Pleasance's new book.

If this case is a success I hope to be able to push some of my ideas forward with the momentum and interest that I know is there. Just an example, Ebon Upton is about to do an article/video involving the Amiga and if we are a success we may be mentioned.

@clusteruk

Is it possible to post the news at mainstream web sites like Engadget e.t.c ? Maybe that would attract fresh blood ?

They would not be interested at this stage, although I did send to engadget and other sites like that.

@ilbarbax

Depends which version you are buying, look on the kickstarter for what is included.

Basically with Amiga version you get as blank and a floppy panel, on PC 2 x blank.

However, you can add others as options later.
