I'm glad you like your X1000. It is a great machine. However I will have to disagree, I really like my X5000/40.
As most people know I tend not to comment on the forums but I do like to correct false and misleading statements.
1. I did not fund Hyperion in the lawsuit against Amiga Inc in 2007. I did provide a little money to help pay the for the Hyperion developers and funded my own developer donation scheme to supply hardware to key OS4 developers. Anyone who is suggesting otherwise is twisting the facts to suit their own agenda, whatever that is. Based on his recent deposition, it appears that Evert Carton provided most of the funds for the defence (100k euro) and I'm sure Hermans would have provided some too?
2. I provided additional funding to Hyperion in 2010, long after the lawsuit was settled, to assist the X1000 development effort.
3. My bathroom does not have a boing ball design, but that a good idea.
If you want to know more you will have to acquire the 2nd volume of from Vultures to Vampires, which is almost finished.

I thought you lived in a mansion composed entirely of Minecraft like blocks of white and red stone, arranged in a checkerboard cubic 2x2x2 cell such that any plane at any angle through it would result in the checkerboard pattern. _________________ Doing stupid things for fun... |

How strange. I was just about to correct the verbage as well.
Fact:Hyperion was a gnat's eye from bankruptcy during the time before "settlement".
The only thing that saved them was Pentti Kouri's passing, -not- some brilliant lawyering.
If Trevor had been funding the lawsuit at this point, they never would have been on the verge of bankruptcy. I hope people can understand that logic. heh.
But to respond to your question about who funded the lawsuit: First Ben posted this in post #161
Then Evert, who was reading here at the time...objected to the obvious misinformation.
note the "edit" which followed I hope that assists in clarifying.
It seems I had to remind Ben in post #165, after which he attacked me, after which the mod had to treat him like a child "Edited by mod: Simple, polite answers help everyone"'
Good times. heh.

Thanks for the clarification. I've no problem regretting from my previous statement.
And you have to prove nothing: it's the person behind Amiga Documents that should bring facts to sustain his/her statement ("burden of proof").
However Evert, which is an AW user, could say something about that. |

| @thread,
I find it laughable when people keep accusing Trevor of taking advantage of Amiga users because he sells over priced hardware. I've never completely agreed with his decisions about what to build, or what OS to support (I've always seen MorphOS as a superior choice, instead of AmigaOS4), but I've always given Trevor credit for trying to do something, unlike 99.9% of the rest of the community, who only complain, or boast about vaporware projects. Trevor could easily end all of the criticism about price gouging the Amiga community, if he only released the actual figures of how much he has spent on hardware design and manufacturing, compared to the tiny amount of money that A-Eon has received in payment for selling such hardware. I don't believe he will ever break even, let alone make a profit from selling Amiga hardware, but he can't tell us that because his wife would probably divorce him is she learned how much money he has wasted on his favorite hobby OS.
So, disagree with his decisions and/or direction he is trying to push some of the community, but please stop with the accusations that he is doing what he does to make a profit from the Amiga community. It simply isn't true. Is he trying to recoup as much of his investment as he can? Yes, of course he is, so he can continue to invest more money into his Amiga dreams. Are his products over priced? Not when you consider the expense to design and manufacture them, but yes, if you compare them to other computers, but comparing custom made, low volume hardware to mass produced hardware is like comparing apples to elephants.
Like the man, or dislike him, but don't spread lies about him. That's on you!

aros clowns like cesare di mauro are too stupid to get what integration with old 68k Amiga software gives to us. From developer pov especially important is that we may easilly use old 68k dll in new ppc software. This is the reason why Amiga PowerPC feel like real Amiga, better than these made by Commodore. Everythig is already working ootb. No ppc version of dll no problem. Just use 68k dll. Compare this to x86 aros that after twenty seven years of development still has not comaptible mui.

It's important because without the old 68k code you're nothing. Quote:

There's no "Amiga" PowerPC: it's only on your wet dreams.
Those are simply PCs where the CPU was replaced with a PowerPC one.
BTW, if the only important thing is "feeling like an Amiga", then you onlu need a proper desktop environment for Windows/Linux/MacOS: enjoy it! Quote:

Commodore was the only one making Amigas. Don't confuse PCs with a PowerPC CPU with an Amiga: they are completely different. Quote:

Windows as well. Then why you don't use it? It's also A LITTLE BIT more stable, BTW. Quote:

Which you can use even on a PC. You don't need an underpowered CPU from the computer science stone age to run 68k code... Quote:

Since when MUI was part of the Amiga o.s.? Care to tell me where I can find it? On any Amiga o.s. version, of course. |

Bullshit. If all is so hanky dory and friends everywhere and nothing unbecoming ever happened, Why the sudden dismantling of AEONv1 and the entire new AEONv2,'
If everything is so fine, why did you start AEONv2? lol Also since everything is so fine, why not make Ben Hermans a director in AEON2 ? I mean he has been leading OS4 development for a long time?
