@RobertB

OS4 gaming? What the heck? Spencer 2 and Wings finally released on the A1222+? I can't see much activity warranted beyond that!

Maybe a port of the new Speedball release?

Not so much "Amiga" gaming as it is PC sloppy seconds gaming.

OK.

But you don't deny that it's PC sloppy seconds gaming on AmigaOS 4?

I don't have anything to deny, this is not the topic we are discussing presently.

Think about it regarding your answers, agami.

The topic veered onto Amiga gaming, and more specifically AmigaOS 4 gaming, in no small part due to that being theme of AmiWest 2024, including a gaming showcase on AmigaOS 4, by Bill "Tekmage" Borsari.

I always do absolutely recognise and take into account that we all have different "happy places" as you referred to them. I'm just trying to help people deal with their cognitive dissonance.

I too will choose to do some things which to others appears to be the "hard way", and they will even tell me that there is a much easier to that same thing.
I am the first one to admit that I am deliberately choosing to do it the hard way, but I never delude myself nor will I ever deny that it is indeed the hard way, and I also acknowledge that that there are easier, and often that means cheaper ways to do that particular thing.

If someone wants to use a $2,000+ USD computer to play games from the late '90s because that's their happy place, I say go right ahead. I would just like them to acknowledge that they understand that they are doing it the hard and expensive way.

Kronos spoke about "happy places", not me. I did just agree with him.

I haven't seen anyone coming here to tell you what to do. But the contrary...

Did these people ask you anything? Do you think they really don't know what they are doing with their money?

And by the way, why do you care? Is it your money that they are spending?

I have never made this about the money. It is about the apologetics. About acknowledging reality.

I'm not telling anyone what to do. I'm stating what I'd like people to do. For their own sanity, and for the friendlier discourse on the Amiga forums.

The first step in fixing a problem is acknowledging that there is a problem.
Gaming on PPC Amiga's is made up of mostly average quality ports of PC games from the late '90s. While that's not the reason why anyone got their AmigaOS 4 or MorphOS capable hardware, it is something that these machines can do, though not always well. All things considered, its a pretty sad state of affairs, but for those few individuals it brings a small amount of joy.

The above is an example of a non-delusional statement.
See how I didn't list a bunch of software to defend an indefensible position?

Thanx everyone, due to illness I almost did not attend this year but finally made it even though I felt a little under the weather in the end. I’m very glad I could attend and it was lots of fun hanging out with fellow Amiga family members including Dave Haynie. My oldest son really enjoyed the show as well. He often wondered why I loved the Amiga so much for years so it’s nice for him to witness it first hand.

For their own sanity? Sorry, but who do you think you are? Why would people have to aknowledge anything to you? Who ever asked you about talking about their sanity?

Actually, here, YOU seem to be the problem. Will you acknowledge it?

Once again this pedantic tone. I don't know who you think you are but as anyone can see: not a wise person.

Who cares about what you did? Who gives a bloody care of what you are thinking?

You don't like that some people can have som fun with what they have bought? It's a psychological trouble that we won't be able to resolve here.
