You have three AmigaOnes and are working on obtaining more. Its easier to take that approach in your situation.
For someone not entrenched in dealing with this for years from my view their lack of engagement is mind-boggling and bad business.

Every part of this thread could be useful to a good businessman with an open mind. People don't take the time to be so bitter unless they once cared usually. People who still defend the company obviously still care. And seeing pragmitists who are still open to buying product when/if they become available has a value as well.
Now people may argue that Bill M. is not that kind of person, to see the value in all of these things. But even if that is so that dosen't mean this is a useless discussion. Maybe to fend off bad press for Hakia as an example they could just cut loose Amiga to someone who will care if they are so fed up with us, who knows._________________ Pegasos2 G3 running AOS 4.1 and MorphOS 2.0 Amikit user, tinkering with Icaros VM (AROS) EFIKA owner Amiga 1200 |

Perhaps cc:'ing Pentti Kouri, assuming he is still Chairman, is not a bad idea as well.
As for posting replies anyone I have seen who said they have gotten one has been very hesitant to post. One member at least alluded to some sort of language in it saying something along the lines of not being able to copy it anywhere. To me if he asked for an NDA to proceed in a conversation thats one thing and should always be honored if agreed to, heck even a gentleman's agreement should be honored of course. But I'm not sure I get how the first email response (if you get one) is not fair game to post should you want to. Granted that may not be a productive thing to do unless thats all you get and you are left hanging. But whatever they are putting in there for who they do reply to, its working! lol

Your analysis is correct. People do still care, despite the differing methodology employed to illustrate that. Be it a "petition" or a mere flurry of ideas in a thread, people would not be investing their time and energy without having this underlying interest in manifesting success.
There is a term "self fulfilling prophecy". If you continually focus on the eventual negativity you feel will arise from discussion, well...
Just to be clear, I am more an advocate for success than a supporter of any one individual or company in this endeavor.

Well, the thread and most comments have been *constructive* so far ("email problem" hopefully solved and e.g. have a look at post #30), but of course you need to mention the few silly one-liners to make your (non-constructive) "point".

I disagree. We don't trust them. |
And this situation probably won't change until Amiga Inc. realizes that we would **like** to trust them (big difference!), if they would only show some very basic responsiveness and some basic will to positively take advantage of the (everlasting?) dedication of the "community". Is it really that helpful to slam any effort or suggestion made in that direction? Or have you given up on any possibility to improve the situation (also understandable) ? Just an FYI that my account at Amiga.com has been made active after emailing Dr. Kouri and Bill M., with the help of Ray of course.
If anyone else is having issues I suggest you email Ray at rakey at amiga.com for help. :) I know of at least two members here with outstanding issues, hope that helps.

Since you haven't been here long, I submit FYI: Sometimes we change our thread titles here, adding "solved" when an issue is discussed and later resolved. Since I can confirm all the email addresses given in this thread as being accurate, and since this thread MAY represent the most complete listing of same, perhaps change the thread title to: Amiga.com and current email addresses or Amiga.com and current contact info? It would also be easier to find with AW search this way.

Probably more than 2 people.
Beware of Ray Akey!
Which reminds me, you will never get an email direct to any management of amigainc without going through Ray. If he doesn't like you, well then.. buh bye! Last edited by Darth_X on 27-Feb-2007 at 12:54 AM.

Actually I emailed Dr. Kouri directly at a non Amiga.com address of his and Bill directly at his Amiga address. Both gentlemen answered me very quickly and both were very courteous in their replies, for which with Bill, he and I had a pleasant series of emails back and forth.
Ray also fixed my login issue today with a nice email as well in working with me to do so.
If nothing else I feel good having said my peace on some issues to the proper parties and having gotten acknowledgment back from them.

Obviously what is critical is how they participate. It isn't a simplistic question of 'be involved' vs. 'don't be involved'. To go into detail on this would only restart old arguments so I won't, apart from saying business as usual won't work.

Agreed, but how much can this saga continue???
They've had more than enough chances....
If they're still alive, why don't they respond in the form of a news item (or similar)?
And if you're still skeptical, see this thread:
Quote:
AmigaOS4 "and all future versions" can never be sold for meaningful and competitive hardware on a functioning market, and therefore will remain dead for all practical intents and purposes. |
Do you get that???Last edited by PCKiller on 27-Feb-2007 at 01:44 AM. Last edited by PCKiller on 27-Feb-2007 at 01:42 AM.

I realize your response was to someone else, but I feel obliged to reply. When I have business with Ray, I write to Ray. When I have business with Bill, I write to Bill. Your statement indicates that Ray is in some way screening mail for Bill. I have never seen evidence of that. My replies always come from the person I write to.

Sorry if I was unclear. I was referring specifically to participation through AW, not participation in general.

I guess it continues as long as people have faith. Personally, I think it's already all over, though admittedly this is inconsistent with Bill McEwen emerging to toss a bone (words, not action) once a year or so. I'm just here for the conversation, myself, unless something really cool comes along somehow.

Seehund's opinion is well known. I'm not so sure the original license scheme was bad by design, if it had been executed as planned, but that's water under the bridge now. The only opinion that really matters is the IP owner's. The lack of any follow up or alternative says a lot about Amiga, Inc.'s commitment to the market. The only remaining mystery to me is why Amiga, Inc. doesn't just announce the end of the line instead of letting people get strung along while doing nothing to facilitate new products for this market. Seems to me the VCs must see some advantage to this path, unfathomable as it is to us outsiders.
