| I was thinking about making some modifications to U-Boot, but I'm not going to do that if I can't keep a working backup chip.
I have access to various EPROM and flash chip burning equipment at work, so its quite likely i'll be able to buy a chip and blow a backup in case i kill something. The problem is that i'm at work and can't get to my A1 until sunday but if I knew the part number I could order a chip from our suppliers today, so does anyone know offhand the part number of the bios chip? _________________ Playstation Network ID: xeron6 |

Ah, that part has been discontinued but they suggest an alternative HERE. Just work your way through till the red order button shows, or quicksearch ID 435-6688. _________________

| Ahh yes.. so my second question is, is it possible to TFTP boot from OS3.9? Or do I have to have a PC on my network?
Since I don't have a floppy drive, burning a CD-Rom to test every change would be excessive and expensive, and all I have on my desk are Amigas _________________ Playstation Network ID: xeron6 |

A lttile offtopic but do you think you are able to burn a rom for a FastlaneZ3 card? The romchip is socketed and I have the new romfile on disk.
I think it is this chip: Microchip 27C256 (more numbers are printed if you want´em). _________________ Mainframe: Amiga 3000 Tower, CSPPC233/060, 128+2MB, 36GB hd, Prometheus, Voodoo5 5500, 10Mbit A1G3XE 800MHz, 768MB, 150GB Raptor, 9250, OS4.1 |

I assume you gonna a build a floppy type boot image and tftpboot in the same way you'd update a new hyperion update over a network. Won't you need an update program to put your new image into the rom.
Anyway I found this on aminet
http://www.aminet.net/package.php?package=comm/tcp/tftp-server.lha
I use solaris winds free tftp server when i flash my A1's

Well, I don't know yet. I can't take the programmer hardware home from work (they seem to not like people taking hundreds of pounds worth of equipment off site ... , so I'll have to flash my updates on the A1 itself.
I just need to have two chips, so if I break one, I can put the other back in, and reblow the other one at work the next day. _________________ Playstation Network ID: xeron6 |

Althought TFTP would be the best solution, a CD-RW would do too.

| Well... I'm now the proud owner of an AM29F040B flash ROM, and a PLCC to DIL adaptor so I can program it at work
I guess all I have to do now is bring my U-Boot chip from my A1 to work and make a copy of it into the blank one, and then e-mail Hyperion for the sourcecode and tips on how to make a TFTP image from it.
I just hope I can do that on OS4... _________________ Playstation Network ID: xeron6 |
