@jahc

I wouln't be surprised if they gave the visiters at BB3 a slight edge though.

It appears baking foil is a major component.

I would never have guessed that.

It's 12 UK Time, and no news on the Troïka web site, nor livecast on the BB3 site :(

According to the comparison table the A1-XE does not have any gfx-output

@tomazkid

I must confess to never actually having seen any gfx output on the XE myself, so what are you hinting at?

@olegil

I suppose he means the way the trokia board is described as freedom of choice with pci, which really means the A1XE should really be described as freedom of choice with agp.

@pteppic

Yes, that is what I meant.
XE has the freedom of choise with either a PCI or AGP graphics-card, or with both a PCI and AGP at the same time

>XE has the freedom of choise with either a PCI or AGP graphics-card, or with both a PCI and AGP at the same time

Yeah, that was my first thought too when I saw the comparisons...

I guess that is marketing....

'The competitors car has a small and useless low powered 1300 cc engine, but our great car has a very nice low petrol consuming 1300 cc engine...'

I'm a bit worried about the 'less then 400 pounds production cost' bit.

I think its still a bit high... Especialy as a product that has low costs in mind

>'We listened to the forums, we spoke with individuals to see what they wanted in a board. Low cost was mentioned time and time again: the consensus of opinion being that current solutions are quite expensive.'

Well.... listen some more... I would say....

Still thumbs up though !

Martin

Heh, you're worried that a maximum is too high? You worry too much. That way lies only depression

Me too. I was told to wait until the announcement was made today before making up my mind to hang things up. 400 pounds is roughly $710 USD (currently). I don't see anywhere that says this price includes OS4, so add another $150 USD on top of that and you are right back at $860. Not really any better than the mA1.

I was hoping there would be some better news than this today, but still ... I will wait to see the final product. From this announcement, I cannot see it hitting at the $499 US price, and as such, will not be the product to bring OS4 to the rest of us.

Yehaawwww!

Well, it's a mixed bag.....

There's only 2 PCI slots, but you have 5 USB 2.0!!!! ports, and the sound is on board.

I'm depressed about only having a G3 chip on there, Altivec should be standard by now. (What MHz is it???)

2 DIMM slots, and 1 Gig ram is max?

RAID!!!! RAID!!!! RAID!!!! RAID!!!! RAID!!!! RAID!!!!

This should boot like the BLUE BLAZES!!! (As long as DMA has no hiccups.)

CaptainMooMoo, we need your expertise desperately!!!!

P.S. What does on board memory, flash memories mean?

P.S.2 Can it fit in an Amiga Phantasy Case??

P.S.3 Hope, that the price is somewhat lower???
