| Things are kind of slow, so it's time for a poll, just to cheer everyone up.
Will Amiga's legal situation be sorted out before you die?

It's more relevant to stipulate if it will be sorted out prior to the IP being no longer relevant. I would argue that the release of the A500 Mini without the full trdemark would indicate that we are past that point. The A500 is more recognisable than AmigaOS, AmigaOne and the platform as a whole at this point so who cares? _________________ "Art challenges technology. Technology inspires the art." I see there aren't many optimists around.
Of course I don't know when my number will be up, but the current situation is certainly untenable. _________________ All the way, with 68k |

Excellent point. I have certainly had a good 2021 messing around with new FPGA 68k, and AROS 68k._________________ All the way, with 68k |

| To me the real question is:
Will the Amiga legal situation be sorted out before "those guys" die?

Reverse it, friend Nonefornow, as you already know it you should do. Reverse it.
The Amiga legal situation will be sorted out when "those guys" die.

| No, it will remain in Limbo while FPGA 68k machines are taking over and getting better and better. It won't be long till we have a machine that has perfectly made Mega-scaler 68k that will absolutely destroy any previous 68k CPU.

| I doubt it ever will. Too much of a mess and the Amiga itself is too niche to generate interest from a real company with real money and a clue or 2.
It simply doesnt matter though. Id be surprised if anyone could offer any sort of concrete clear cut ownership if a random company just disregarded all legalities and made their own products using any of the involved IPs.

Meanwhile I'll be drinking beer, enjoying my Miggys and collect vinyl and tapes till the day that I die. And that's a big NO if anyone didn't get it.Last edited by khayoz on 07-Apr-2022 at 07:26 PM.

| No. Amiga is in a weird zombie state since the last 10-15 years. You have stakeholders fighting for power but no real value exist or is created. Amiga does not know what to wants to be. Do they want to be a new challenger and displace existing OSes like Windows or Linux or does Amiga want to be retro?
Other retro systems like SinclairSpectrum has reconciled that they are retro and they have a very positive community spirit now and even have competitions to release new games, on cassette tape no less, but amiga can not find rest. Amiga folks still dream of "we will be the major platform"
The best thing that could happen to amiga is if OS4 and MOS would just go away and die. And that the remains, OS3.1 and AROS, would embrace "we are retro" fully.
Also. Hotrod is ####ing crazy and needs to be locked up in a mental hospital.

| @Karlos making my annual check in... :)
I hope it will cease to matter. I've been thinking about this - as long as people buy legal kickstart ROMS there is naff all that can be done to prevent any company making AmigaOS work on other hardware.
Emu68 bare metal emulator... some drivers to retarget audio and video from custom chips to the Raspberry Pi's hardware... and you've basically got Amithlon... or Armithlon.
Technically emulation - but absolutely seamless, and scope for Amiga software which is compiled to ARM.... like Amithlon did for X86...
