Hello everyone,
I've been working on a new Amiga game called "The Gate" for almost one year, it's an adventure game inspired by "Impossible Mission" and "Project Firestart".

A few weeks ago, I managed to complete all the game features I had planned.

Some features are:
- Terminals : They are driven by scripts allowing very high interactivity, they can be blocked by other terminals (heavily inspired by the various Fallout games) and can be hacked. They have a retro look & feel with nice screen glitches
- Doors: Can be locked/unlocked by terminals and by keys, they connect map to map and doors on the same map
- Containers: these can also be blocked by terminals
- Enemies: They are driven by scripts and can react to the player actions, like being hitted or touched. They also can detect the player if he is inside their sensing radius.
- Triggers that can execute events (spawn enemies, launch dialogs, operate doors, and so on...)
- The main character is armed with a gun and he can equip a secondary weapon/device that he will find during the adventure
- In the game you will find documents, informations and secrets that will help in understanding the story and what is happening.
- The dialogue system is very flexible and allows the hero to perform complex actions: for example, by talking to someone, he could open a blocked door if he answers correctly.
- The graphics are EHB 64 colors and the target machine is an Amiga 1200 because of the faster processor.
- For smooth scrolling I've decided to go with the hardware scrolling: no tiles at all even if it seems so by the graphics. They are just big images (max can be around 900x900 pixels).

Now many of you will turn up their nose and say bad things, but before doing so I invite you to see the results I have achieved: I am developing this game with AMOS Professional along with some extensions (AMCAF and Turbo+).

I decided to write this post to look for supporters for my Patreon page.
Unfortunately my job is not going well lately, and I decided to try to dedicate myself full time to this project, but I need supporters, even signing up with the free subscription is very important to me :)

Some videos (hosted on Mastodon, just click the link, all recorded in WinUAE emulating an A1200 with Cycle Exact flag set):
-YouTube video with many features showed, even if YouTube messed up the frame rate...
- Enemies, bullets and going up/down the stairs
- Shooting, Spawing enemies

Some screenshots:

The image shows how a certain type of triggers can be defined allowing me to add secrets or hidden stuff.

The image shows another trigger test: this time the event was to display a message on the top area

This is the game menu -> Secondary weapons/devices where you can equip/unequip items

Having a particular device allow the player to hack terminals completing some minigames

I think you've got the idea :)

Here are some links:
- Patreon Page
- Itch.io Project's Page
- My Mastodon Feed where I post very often about the game (you don't need an account to check it out)

Final notes:
- There is still no audio
- The graphics of the furnitures is temporary, in the above examples they are flat, I'm working on a new set with a bit of 3d effect.

Thank you all for the kind words,
I'm doing my best to deliver a good game for our beloved Amigas!

Currently I'm working on the first map and I also started to work on an editor to simplify & speed up the game's content creation.
If you can, I ask you to support me on Patreon, there is also a free subscription tier :)
