Firstly i think you would likely face challenges on The A500 (being that Retro Game ltd already use that name), Same with A500 NG I think would also likely annoy them and Amiga kit.

Like I said in another thread, I would like to believe the Name and Branding wouldnt matter too much, if the product is good enough.

That being said quick idea for name would be

GameBench 500
Five Hundred (may still face issue)
Rock Lobster (the code name of the A500)

And this is what Ai spat out just for fun..

I had trouble creating polls last time too. Maybe someone disabled the poll feature because they did not like sensitive questions related to the Amiga lawsuits.

Something with "2000" was a very common name for computer related products in the 70s - 80s ...

Gateway 2000
Windows 2000
Computer 2000
VTech PreComputer 2000

But I wouldn't like to see it on a retro styled device

You are right, "The A500" or "A500 NG" could be a problem with other brand names.

If not I would use a complete new name. If it is a device like what we got recently from Amigakit then yes, naming it somehow with "500" might be good

Yes, that's exactly what came in my mind, it's not because the Amiga500 was the best Amiga ever, it is just because it was the product most users remembers.

if you ask someone he will propably think of A500. So yes I think that too

Lorraine is too specific in my view. If Ami 500 is legal to use I would recommend it

as near to A500 or Amiga 500 as possible. If it is commercial and you want to use a related name perhaps asking a attorney about it. It is difficult to me if f.e. "Ami 500" is already too near to A500 or Amiga 500.

Of the ones you've listed, I'd go with Ami 500. It's the only one that is fun and playful.

If you want to keep the 500 but avoid direct Amiga, Ami, or A branding, then you could go with:
- Andy 500 as in 'handy'.
- Miggie 500
- Yay 500

It really depends on who are you targetting it. Is it to be sold in generic stores for big masses who only know "Amiga 500" from their childhood (like THEA500 Mini)? Or is it for Amiga geeks who get the inside jokes/names?

I'd go for a name that is contemporary, but just reminiscent of the Amiga's heydays, that little touch of nostalgia. Or one with an homage to the founding fathers.
