As it wasn't a flame, mearly a reply, I wonder why you wouldn't normaly reply to "that"

but I fail to see how my trading-off some bits and pieces back into the community can be wrong, or, as you seem to be inferring, ungrateful of me. |
No you misunderstand. You have a whole bunch of gear and a great impatience to get a working Amiga out of it. In your haste, you are potentialy getting rid of a better long term Amiga solution by selling bits that don't fall into your imediate plan.

The way I see it is this. I can either:
Try to build a machine myself Sell off all the bits on Ebay Trade some (not all) of the choice items back into the community |
Aye, and with the expert advice you can get on a website like this, you may find the help you need to build a great machine. After all, for the guy to have had the bits in the first place, he must have had them installed in something.

Screw that! This is a public forum and everyone has the right to speak. I was intending my post to be helpful, not hurtful. Perhaps if you read my post from the perspective of a mate trying to stop you doing something silly you'd not get so defensive?_________________ "Anyone with a modicum of reasonableness may realize that it is like comparing the ride in the world to descend the stairs to catch the milk in the house."

Yes, I'd agree with that. The whole intention of my post was to reinstate my feelings about getting rid of such gear, to trade in for something inferior...that goes against logic.
I say from personal experience - I would now prefer to own a PPC A4k, than a PPC A1200. Simple as... I just wanted to say what the reasons were for this. The Cyberstorm cards cannot be bettered in terms of classic hardware, so going the A1200 route when you've been give the A4k gear doesn't seem right.
No negativity meant whatsoever there, just the truth (and friendly advice) ![](https://amigaworld.net/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)

| I know, I know
I did say on another forum that I was the least patient person in the known universe!
The bottom line is ,though, I have almost enough to make up 3 A4K machines I was just using some of it to get the thing I wanted in the first place. I feel like the guy who always wanted a runabout car for A to B stuff, but won a Ferarri in a competition.
I kind of still want the runabout car.

There's always the possibility of getting a Micronik Z3i busboard, then you can use that PPC accelerator of yours in an A1200 :D (The Micronik Z3i has an a4000 style CPU slot on it) _________________ Back to action! |

Yes, I've done my research, sold only some of the stuff and have plans for the rest. _________________
