| So with this thought excise I want people to really think, what they would really want, maybe also have one an actually realistic product that you think could be delivered for the market of our size and then progressly get more crazy.
Realistic product . 1 A new A1200 usb keyboard, that could both fit old Classic Amiga, like the A1200 case & A500 case and also be a USB keyboard.
Maybe Product idea 2 AmigaOS 4.1 FE Emulation Edition, a version that been slightly optimised for emulation purposes and emulator that be easy to set up.
Maybe Project idea 3 Pistorm PPC Edition, a Pi4 can run PPC G3 800Mhz emulation, so why not instead of 68k done by the Pi, why not have it do PPC. I guess it be a lot of work.
Fantasy Project idea 4 Up to date Amiga web browser that could run on 68K/PPC and be kept up todate. Amiga app store where all apps and programs, sound tracks, anything digital could be found and downloaded / bought.
Fantasy Project idea 5 Amiga Fantasy Case, and keyboard all in one complete setup that could run, Amikit, Amibench, AmigaOs3, AmigaOs4, Aros, and even MorpthOS weather it was all done via Emulation/FPGA or natively it be dam cool. Last edited by amigang on 16-Jan-2025 at 09:41 PM.

If Project idea 4 is a fantasy, then we are already doomed.
Also, define 'Realistic'. I happen to think that a somewhat up-to-date web browser that can work on PiStorm/Apollo is actually more doable than any of your 'Maybe Product/Project' ideas.

Yup, 100%.

You can in principle do this already with qemu-ppc on the Raspberry Pi, just needs to be "hooked up" to the GPIO pins like Musashi has been (and I actually think it would be a cool project to try out, also with qemu-m68k). However, I suspect you want something akin to Emu68, like an EmuPPC, and that is of course a lot more work. OS4 also has requirements than OS3 when it comes to the CPU, for example unlike OS3, OS4 needs the MMU, and fast JIT emulation with MMU is something not done easily. So if Michal dabbles with the idea of PowerPC emulation, I think it would rather be in the context of Emu68+PPC for use with WarpUP, and probably not for OS4.

Let's just stop right there. The main problem here is that the Amiga operating systems don't have the foundation and building blocks in place for a "up to day" web browser...

... which is one if the reasons why AmigaKit uses Linux as foundation for its operating system, to make this possible.

This I would say already exists, it's called RaspberryPi 500.
But perhaps you wish something more akin to existing Amiga A1200, more like the mockup I did in the keyboard proposal thread? :)_________________ B5D6A1D019D5D45BCC56F4782AC220D8B3E2A6CC |

Define "somewhat up-to-date".
The closest you'll get is something "scaled down", and we already have a port of NetSurf, which apparently barely anyone use._________________ B5D6A1D019D5D45BCC56F4782AC220D8B3E2A6CC |

Well I was thinking more like Timberwolf scale project, it was amazing that a Firefox port happened, but its pretty clear that you needed a dedicated dev to work on it full time, keeping the port up to date. Plus Im also thinking a browser that can do these online apps, like Google Doc, Photopea etc. and be usable on 68K platform would require a lot more work.
This is why unfortunately unless the community could fund that person say $30k a year I dont see it happening.
Now saying that dont get me wrong there are some interesting solution to this problem, AmiFOX is pretty clever. But there is a issue of security and I wound'nt let say want to do shopping on it or log into my Bank.
I hope Im proven wrong and some kind solution to the browser question can be answered, but project like AmiFox, or Browservice or Rabbit Hole kind of solution are too me the only likely outcome.

so if I understood you right, you're saying pistorm doesn't work in big endian mode, nor has network, 3d graphics and cheap interfaces for kb/mouse/pad? Got that right? _________________ Indigo 3D Lounge, my second home. The Illusion of Choice | Am*ga |

Personally I'd like to see Amigaforever made available on steam, with downloadable game packs made available for it.

Idea 2 isn't necessary because AOS4.1_FE is best emulated already. Apart from the graphics emulation which is in the works as I read. _________________ Sam440ep & AmigaOS4.1 @ Morex 3677 case --- (DaFreak of Liquid Skies & Moods Plateau) |

Odyssey/OWB port. It would be extra nice on PiStorm if there were some ARM native datatypes to render media.
