@number6

I sense you are a helpfull and you will help me get there!

Thanks in advance -

If I understand correcly I need to place an image a 2.0 rom in my DH0:Devs drawer together with rtb and pat files for 2.0?

The Skick I downloaded from Aminet contained only pat and rtb files for KS 33 - 40. Where might I find earlier rtb and pat files.

I wonder why non of this ins mentioned in any WHDload instructions I've seen out there....?

A.

no, kick34005.A500 is an Amiga 500 kickstart image, dont let the naming confuse you

what you need for most games are a 1.3 kickstart rom for a A500 and 3.1 kickstart rom for a A1200, and rename them to kick34005.A500 and kick40068.A1200

you need to get these legally yourself

The ROMS are copyrighted, so you can use grabkick to grab your own ROM.
They are also distributed with other products legally.
The skick file can only distribute the .rtb and .pat.

I hope you meant DH0:Devs/Kickstarts
Does the WHDLoad installer make this drawer for you? If not, just use a disk utility to create it.

Let me know how you are doing.

@Derfs

OK Great. And I did not realise the posts above were being edited, thanks very much to all of you for contributing....

I'm going to have to pick this up again tomorrow as my girlfriend is annoyed that I'm lavishing more time on my Amiga than her!

I'll let you all know how I get on and come back for more advise if I may!

Cheers once again!!!!

A.

@GUys,

I decided to try Classic WB as I think it assists in WHDload -

Do you know why my version of opus does not have options to ZIP like the instructions on classic WB?

Load the now installed ClassicWB config created above. image
Add a PC directory to the Hard Drives tab. You can call this whatever you wish, however using "PC" for either the device or volume name will produce a nice Workbench icon shown in the pictures. image
Boot the ClassicWB and load "Dopus" from the popup menu. image
Select "DH0" for one window and the "PC" directory added in 1) for the second window. image
>>>>>>>>>>>>> Highlight all the ClassicWB files on "DH0" and click the "ZIP" button. image
When asked to enter an archive name, type "System". image
Hit return and wait for the archive to be finalized (may take a while). image
Test the archive's integrity either in Dopus or Windows. image

Seems like problems wherever I turn - I have followed the instructions of installing Classic WB to the letter but no option to ZIP shows?!

@plus4

Default configurations for DOpus do not include any extraction options (LZX/LHA/Zip/RAR etc). These will both require you to create a button for this purpose and to have the relevant 3rd party tool on your Amiga.

(Something like Unz542 from Aminet for ZIP file extraction or you can create and extract with Zip - but this is based on much older ZIP source codes).

WHDLoad how-to

Simple guide to properly install WHDLoad.

1) Download the patch from Aminet skick346
1a) unzip the file into RAM and then copy all the contents in Devs: kickstarts

2) Download from Aminet OSEmu.400. This file is located in the archive JST
2a) Extract and copy OSEmu.400 Sys: C
Some games require expressly OSEmu.400!

3) into "Kickstarts" in Devs, you will have a set of files so appointed:

39115_ROMKick.PAT
39115_ROMkick.RTB
Kick33180.A500.PAT
Kick33180.A500.RTB
ecc etc.

What you need to do is to take the kickstart roms you are using with AmigaForever and copy them into the drawer in Devs:kickstarts and correctly rename it
in maniera corretta. correctly.
A500 rom of AmigaForever should be 34.005, then you rename the rom in:

kick34005.A500

So in kickstarts you:

Kick34005.A500
Kick34005.A500.PAT
Kick34005.A500.RTB

Same procedure for all other rom for the A600, the A3000, the A1200 and A4000.

procedure renames rom AmigaForever:

Kick 1.3 (34 005) for A500
Kick 2.0 (36 143) for A3000
Kick 2.04 (37,175) for A500
Kick 3.0 (39 106) for A1200/4000
Kick 3.1 (40 068) for A1200/4000

then you know how you have to rename the different rom Amiga Forever:

Kick 1.3 = Kick34005.A500
Kick 2.0 = Kick36143.A3000
Kick 2.04 = Kick37175.A500
Kick 3.0 = Kick39106.A1200
Kick 3.1 = Kick40068.A1200

These are the most used and recognized by WHDLoad to run almost all games.

Thanks Steve. Make sense as the option is not there. Invalidates the instructions somewhat though!
