@kas1e

on my classic, I don't really remember well but I use this library for one software (and I use mediator+P96). Maybe the old frogger.

I haven't checked what I said but just said that cgxvideo maybe has been allready used on classic+P96.

BTW, cgxvideo.library is 68k.

You can reader in to pip window, its no problem adding a few buttons, its just that you can't use MUI or Reaction, I guess that's way no GUI elements has been added to Mplayer.

What you mean ? We exactly use MUI , and we need that for mui-mplayer. How it can be no problem adding few buttons, if you can't use mui or reaction ? The buttons handles by mui or by reaction.

What you mean ? On morphos buttons are added to main window by cgx-overlay. If you mean os4 one, then it also have some buttons added by afxgroup (he show some unfinished version with gui some time ago, its just unfinished).

@kas1e

You just need to plot some pixel, and check mouse coordinate on mouse button event to make button, that’s not difficult.

The problem is pixel format of the overlay, I know how it works.

I tried to embed mplayer in to IB2.4 some time ago, did work but there where issues I where uable to salve, in the process I made pip to rgb driver for mplayer. You just need it in reverse to have pixel plotter routine.

Then it will be just different and new version of mplayer, without mui and stuff (i.e. tons of time to develop). The sense there is to have the same mui-mplayer, with all the same features. While we have all of them already, still, buttons inside of the main window are missed.

Maybe you know then, did our cgxvideo.library have real overlay support on os4 or not ?

@kas1e

Overlay is like an advanced dual playfield mode. Just imagine how slow it would be on Amiga 500 if it didnt have dual playfield in the hardware. Effect on overlay is similar.

You can ask cgxvideo to update overlay data with lock/unlock calls to overlay context.

Picasso96.library doesn't expose any public functions to add/modify/remove overlay dynamically. If cgxvideo.library emulation does provide HW accelerated overlay it must be using some undocumented P96 calls. But I really doubt it.

Arg, you got it all wrong.

In my so called "embedded" mode, the main MUI window/group has all the buttons/controls and a simple MUI Rectangle object with custom backfill drawing the overlay colorkey and that's it. The cgx_overlay_gui video output driver (running in mplayer main thread) can then attach the videolayer to this window, and adjust it whenever window is resized (depending on ratio and so on).

@Fab

Did it mean that we can use P96 overlay with muiplayer and have buttons/controls embedded the same as simple rectangle objects ?

An other option move the pip windows when ever the toolbar windows is moved, just like AmiAmp does it.

@kas1e

It all comes to what itix wrote earlier: does P96 (or cgx emu) allow a videolayer to be attached to an *already* existing window at a given offset (so that it fits in the target Rectangle area where the video is displayed)?

@all

While no overlay support, and we have some small problems to fix (non working swithcihng to full-screen and some problems with exit sometime because of some non-disabled mos-cgx-specific parts), its in general fully working , and from terms of gui hav e no bugs.

Playlist works, sliders works, sound-sliders works, i.e. all looks like fine.

Here is latest screenshot

Hope tomorrow release a test version

As usuall thanks to Fab with help me with all the crap :)

Thanks for the work !

But without overlay, it won't be really fast (I see ALTIVEC is supported, that is good).

Yeah, altivec suppoted. Overlay just can take a bit of time to implement, and better to have a vesion even without overlay for now (imho)

Ouch, can this mess of windows be turned off? That is I hope that mplayer still runs a simple and powerful command line tool. Mplayers power is in it's command line, I never use the GUI under linux (I use MoviePlayer for GUI based playing instead, I'm not anti GUI per seh), but I use it from the command line often.

Of course it can. If you want gui , you just do "mplayer -gui 1", if want command lne, then you just use it plainly as usuall.

Through, then for you that port make no big sense, as the reassons of it , its GUI expectually.

I think os4-current one mplayer have the latest mplayer-code as well (through that version unreleased, and are on the google-page), so, for you that port will make sense just to compare which one works better from command line (i assume should be almost the same). Also there is no overlay support yet, so, current aos4-one will be better for users who want just command line version.

Through, in mui-mplayer fab add some stuff to the network-streaming (i.e. usage of plain bsdsocket.library), so should be better in that terms.

I thought I read that Fab version had some more advanced rendering code?

Anyway keep the good work, you can't please us all all the time

For now our port use plain cgx_wpa driver , which done for morphos, so i think that yes, its good enough for us as well. The only real miss its overlay of course (for now)

@broadblues

mplayer gui can act as music player (with playlist, many formats supported, streaming etc.) so gui version is useful .It supports drag&drop also so you can drag&drop movie and mplayer will start playing it.
