@AmigaBlitter

Thanks for the shortcut. The 'tab' feature worked for the first directory. However it only works the first time. When trying to get to a long named directory within a long named directory it only works on the first.

From: I'm actually flying into a bug!

I just tried to use the keyboardlayout keyword as well, selecting the right one for my keyboard (so AmigaOS and DosBox both matched it). But the output was still wrong.

Shift key as such works for me, because all caps (A-Z or Q-M as it were) are available, and the characters from shift-0..9, although they follow the American layout.

I recall that 0.73 used only American keyboard (I still have 0.70, which does). Maybe a simple fix would be to get rid of the international keyboard support?

edit: factual mistake

PC version has textured objects (ships, buildings etc.). However, I don´t use textures at all. I use 4500 CPU cycles and medium details and the result is about the same as on my A1200. Your Pegasos 2 can probably run DosBox with more than 4500 CPU cycles.

Awesome! thats why I asked I read the pc version has better gfx so hopefully i will be able to enable full textures.. does DOSbox do Full screen? Are you using a hardfile or an actual cd rom? (never used bochs or dosbox)

I´m not sure your hardware will be sufficient, but you can try.

I use Windows version (I think OS4/MorphOS version supports fullscreen). DosBox doesn´t need hardfile for most games (I used it only for Windows 3.x/95 emulation).

I installed Windows95 with DosBox 0.74 for WindowsXP, it works!.
Then i tryed
So I tried the same procedure with DosBox 0.74 for AmigaOS4, but it doesn't work.

The problem i encountered is the "boot" command:
i have to boot from a floppy image of MSDOS 6.22 in order to start Win95 installation, but on AmigaOS4, DosBox crashes when i try to "boot" from an image file (floppy or hdd).

The same procedure works with DosBox 0.74 for Windows.

@kyle

See here, it could solve your assumed problem: Lands of Lore / DosBox 0.74

CPU emulation "simple" (core=simple in config) is broken. It worked in 0.73, but now it even prevents the Dosbox 'mount' from working. Just use normal or full, instead.

@Thematic

I have to check but if I remember well, I "disabled" the simple core. So you have to you the normal core.
Is simple core useful ? If so, I should enable it.

Okay sure. I don't think I have done any speed tests, I'll see if I can find something.

@corto

I retry with my Flex 800 + update 3 and now seems faster, mutch faster

Of course not enough to play Doom 1 (or Mortal Kombat 1 at full details) but now almost MK it's 100% playable, still slow of course but only a little so i can say that for now the key is the 2D speed improvement in AmigaOS 4.1 Update 3

With another little speed upgrade such good games like Mortal Kombat ot Street Fighter 2 Turbo would be even better, maybe for the next OS4 update, maybe just hope

Aniway did you try to propose your patches to the main DOSBox developers ?

I tested with v 0.72 as I didn't have 0.73. I don't think I had a very good benchmark program after all, I tried a bunch. The results were very similar, I ran PC Player Benchmark but - with good reason - timed it with a watch, and all three options, normal, simple and full, took about 30 seconds with cycles=max and frameskip=2.

hwever in dosbox:

700 cycles = about 8086 @4,77 Mhz
3000 cycles = about 80286 @12 Mhz
10000 cycles = about 80386 @25 mhz
20000 cycles = about 80486 @66 mhz

I think it is rather 80386DX 25 MHz.

Correct.

My estimations are based on my experience with many games and comparison to my PCs.

I can't seem to get the 'shift' key to work. For instance when I need to change directories, and the directory has a '~' (tilde) in the name, I can not get the character to show. The shift key is unresponsive. Any ideas?

Same problem here. All shift keys beyond "0",")" won`t appear. I cannot type "cd c:".
I`ve set the KB "keyboardlayout=us", as in AOS. It`s a USB standard KB...

Accordng to the DOSBox documentation, it`s a well known problem. The strange thing is I tried to change the OS4 keymap to US (use not save) but no result. Is the Amiga port peculiar? Anybody else has experienced the same problem?

"Anybody else has experienced the same problem?"

Me

I only use DOSBox to launch games so I 'solve' this problem by using scripts :

This one works in SCUMMVM and is running at full speed , no slowdowns even on an classic Amiga with 040 and up.

@AmigaBlitter

As I said in another thread while back, there is no need to use the IBM perflibs anymore, the same functionalities are include within newlib.

Understood, AmigaBlitter. The functionality of IBM perflibs has been integrated into newer versions with `newlib`. No separate usage required nowadays.
