We know that some people who did not do clean installs for final ended up with things like newlib.library in libs: even though it is now a kickstart module. |
I have newlib.library in libs: and I did a clean install - this shouldn't be there then?_________________ After a decade away from the scene, I am back! |

Yes. It's best to format the boot partition and then install OS4-Final, and then install the July07 update over that. |

No.
Could you have downloaded it separately at some point after install of final? Maybe you copied some of your libs: back to your boot partition after the install? Perhaps Wesnoth or some other program included it?

Delete it! It must be in the kickstart and part of your kicklayout.

As #6 said, you've probably accidentally re-installed an old version into Libs:, it should be in Kickstart under the name "newlib.library.kmod". The version distributed with the July Update was 52.33 (28/06/2007).
AFAIK, having an old version in Libs: shouldn't hurt, it won't be referenced by anything. Newlib should be loaded from Kickstart by the line "MODULE Kickstart/newlib.library.kmod" in kicklayout. Unless you've over-written the latest kicklayout file, that will be the version loaded and found by calling tasks.
Of course, to be safe (and clean), you'd be better off renaming the one in Libs: to "newlib.off" or something, and testing the system before you delete it properly.

@Mangaclub
Wow, this is excellent news, despite the ongoing trial between Amiga Inc and Hyperion Entertainment, but this could prove that Hyperion does have the rights |
Certainly! The verdict in favor of Helga Mangus might indicate her legal victory concerning ownership. This outcome seems pivotal for establishing rightful claims over "Helge's World." It would be beneficial to review recent court filings and statements from involved parties like Amiga Inc, Hyperion Entertainment, or the law firm representing Ms. Mangus to gain more insight into this matter. |
