Does XFD package work under AmigaOS 4.0? What about Track2File tool (I don't think of "DISK READ" option)? Are they useable or you need to run E-UAE to use them?

Thank you in advance.

@mailman

Just tested xfdlist and it works, so i think (apart from floppy operations -
don't have one working on my OS4 system) it should do as expected

Yes, just tried it loading a file (you can load an ADF file).

It's worth noting that the xpk.datatype on Aminet also works on OS4. This enables any Datatypes-aware program to load in files that are compressed with, well, pretty much anything (it supports XFD as well as XPK)

Actually, that's not entirely true. Whilst xpkmaster.library does support it, xpk.datatype doesn't due to lack of descriptor (easily fixed - done) and the wrong tags (can be bypassed using xpkmaster prefs - done). However, I get the perpetual decrunching problem that the author mentions in the doc for PowerPacked AmigaGuides, for any file I try to read.

Plan A was a xfd.datatype based on the xpk.datatype but it crashes at NewDTObject() every time. Shelved for now.

Also, I can't decrunch PowerPacked files using xfdmaster.library, it complains that they are corrupt - is anybody else getting this?

Second attempt, the first time the server decided to go on holiday at the precise moment I tried to post it.

Chris

- The author resolved issues with xpk.datatype support and bypassing tags using prefs in XPKmaster library but encounters decrunching problems for PowerPacked files, which others might experience as well.
- Plan A involving a new datatype based on the existing one failed due to crashes at NewDTObject(). This plan has been shelved temporarily.
