I'm curious as to what people do most (or intend to) on their Amigas.

In the 68k days my main uses were graphics and then music production, but now with the A1 coding took over, closely followed by the internet (email/web/irc).

I don't have an OS4 system yet, but I use E-UAE on Mac OS X and my trusty old A500 for gaming. I used to do a lot of music on my 500 too, but I generally use GarageBand for that sort of thing now.

I've also started trying to do some coding on AROS, but it's confusing me because I'm a really bad programmer.

Voted gaming. Last time I booted AROS, I just sat there playing Doom for ages!

For the purpose of this poll, using OS3.x, OS4, MOS, AROS, an emulator or physical Amiga qualifies equally.

If someone's mostly using e.g. Imagine with Amithlon, chances are he/she would be doing the same with a genuine machine.

Gaming mostly although I do try my hand at coding if Im in the right mindset for it.

I had to write a script in Arexx on Sunday and I discovered I had totally forgot almost everything, hehe. After getting a few books out it all came flooding back.
(That was to convert 100 Vlab images to IFF pictures using a CLI proggy, nothing hard.)

I need an Amiga One or a high speed A4000T, I spend to much time on my PC :(

Well, I voted Internet, because right now all I'm doing on my miggy is IRC. I also used to do all my email on the miggy, making it, in effect, my email server, but have since handed off that task to a dedicated Linux machine, and now do all my email via Thunderbird on a peecee. (The new email server is an IMAP server, which means I can read and send email from any machine in the house. I may switch back to doing my email via the Amiga, at least sometimes, when one or more of the Amiga-based email programs support IMAP natively and do it well...)

Another reason I selected Internet is because the other thing I did alot (but have temporarily stopped doing because of OS-flakeyness issues[1]) is something that's not even listed in the poll options: word / text processing, supplemented by outline processing. I will probably go back to doing alot of that when I get a newer machine, with a newer version of AmigaOS on it...

[1] Yeah, one or the other of the two programs used here is apparently causing a memory fragmentation problem, or some other such thing, which causes the likeliness of gurus and stuff later on by seamingly unrelated tasks to go up.... I used to just reboot after each text-processing session, but since I now leave WookieChat running 24/7 (to keep me logged into #idlerpg) I can't do that anymore without getting penalised by @IRPG. I'm guessing this is an issue with using AmigaOS 3.0, rather than 3.1 or above. it's probably something that wouldn't be an issue were I using updated ROMs...

I don't have an Amiga yet either but I picked Graphics.
Loved using my A500 then A2000 for animation and drawing etc.

I would think the Internet and WP (Office) are a "given" for any desktop system.

I voted coding because my A1200 sits on a shelf on my desk upstairs unconnected. I use WinUAE and EUAE on Windows and Linux respectively to test my new music compiler source code for my undergraduate research project. I'm using Zerohero's cross-compiler for Linux as well.

Hopefully, before long we'll be able to convert ProTracker mods into stand-alone programs without need for a player program or large library.
