I'm sorry but until I have a pressed CD-ROM of OS4.0 in my sweaty little SAM 440EP owning (fingers crossed) hands this is all words I'm afraid!
Thanks for the info though _________________ "Art challenges technology. Technology inspires the art." John Lasseter, Co-Founder of Pixar Animation Studios |

So is this any different from the "Final ISO" (supposed to be packaged up in a nice big box) that was announced by HJF on an IRC session?
There is no mention about that in the announcement. Has OS4 final (including packaging) been postponed due to the lawsuit?
Anyway, at least great news for existing OS4 customers that Hyperion/devs are still working on the OS despite its uncertain future. |

Wow, this is excellent news, despite the ongoing trial between Amiga Inc and Hyperion Entertainment, but this could prove that Hyperion does have the rights _________________ Helge K. Leaving the Amiga in favour of a PC.. |

It seems it has been postponed!

Maybe Hyperion has added some back doors to allow OS4.0 be more easily cracked and Open Sourced should it all go wrong in the event Amiga Inc win!!! Last edited by BigD on 18-Jul-2007 at 04:02 PM.

| Did anyone notice how they phrased "The latest version of the Sirion USB stack"? I don't recall them (commonly) publically giving the USB stack a name before. Sounds like they are covering their ass, in case they loose, so that they can tell Amiga Inc "Sirion USB stack is not part of OS4, so you don't get it". IMHO of course, not that this would be unexpected. _________________ Author of the PortablE programming language. It is pitch black. You are likely to be eaten by a grue... |

| Python 2.5.1, excellent!
I wonder what standard library modules were ported. For example, is the Tkinter included?
It would be great to have wxPython but for this we need wxWidgets first of course. |

| I really don't think that the release of this update indicates anything at all regarding the court case. It's simply business as usual for Hyperion.

The usb stack has been named Sirion from day one when they made an agreement with Thomas Graff.. you should not interpreter it in any way

Great work.......sounds like the kernel is being developed with great care, and that it maybe even can be compared to other elite systems out there....dunno, dont know exactly what AOS's real strengt is compared to the others.
Is it just as good as.......say Linux, windows, etc??

Then you didnt read Documentation/usb/usbstack.doc on the OS4Final CD: Quote:
USB System Software ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Description =========== What you have in your hands is the Sirion USB stack.
|
"The latest version of the USB stack" sounds so nameless, no need to argue about political reasons IMHO
