This is another game that many users will remember from the mid-2000s. There are only a handful of casual games that can truly be called
timeless classics, and Crimsonland is undoubtedly one of them.

Some of us have been hoping to see Crimsonland on AmigaOS for a long time. There was an attempt to port Violetland, which was "kind of"
similar, but it never matched Crimsonland in terms of speed, visuals, or the sheer amount of action. For years I dreamed of disassembling
the original game and rewriting it for AmigaOS 4, but the amount of work required would have taken at least a year, so the project was
always postponed. And recently, I discovered I wasn't the only one with that idea:

https://banteg.xyz/posts/crimsonland/

"Banteg" had been dreaming about the same thing, and only recently—with the help of AI to speed up the reverse engineering process he was
finally able to finish it. His website tells the whole story: debugging, disassembling, decompiling, and reconstructing the original game.
In the end, he produced a version that behaves 99% identically to the original. However, his rewrite is written in Python using Raylib,
which isn't suitable for AmigaOS 4. So I spent the last three weeks porting it to C using SDL2 and OpenGL ES 2.0. Days and nights later, I
can finally say we now have a version that's 99% identical to the original, with a few small extras such as fullscreen support (both from
the options menu and via Alt+Enter), a resizable window, VSync on/off, and a few other convenience options.

Everything else is there: all 50 Quests, Rush and Survival modes, the hidden minigames, hardcore difficulty after completing 40 levels,
highscores, configurable controls, two-player mode, perks, bonuses, every weapon, music, and sound effects—it's all included. You also don't
need to download the game assets separately; the original developers gave Banteg permission to redistribute them, so they're included with
this port.

As for performance, on my AmigaOne X5000 with a Radeon RX 560, I get around 260 FPS at 1920Ă—1080 with VSync disabled. With VSync enabled,
it naturally runs at a stable 60 FPS.

You can see it in action here:

If you already know Crimsonland, then enjoy finally playing it on OS4. If you've never played it before, give it a try. It's one of those
timeless games that never gets old. Like Plants vs. Zombies, Quake, or Unreal, it's simply one of those timeless classics.

Have fun, and never say never!
