| I have an LG DVD ROM drive that plugs into a USB port. When I plug it into my X5000 I get a message that (my interpretation) there was on overload on the usb port and it was shut down (to prevent damage?) Since my X5000 doesn't have any internal drive bays, it would be nice to be able to hook up an external DVD drive when I need one. I wonder if anyone knows what is happening and can recommend a DVD read/write drive that is safe to use and works with an AmigaOne. _________________ X5000 / microA1(OS4.1 FE U2) / CodeBench / Imagine / Blender Lightwave 2019 / Microsoft Visual C++ |

I figured it was the devil doing it. Is there some Amiga guru who can bless the drive? I'll pay postage. Last edited by thinkchip on 06-Jul-2026 at 02:16 PM.

Have you ever heard of "The Far Side" by Gary Larsen? Check it out. _________________ X5000 / microA1(OS4.1 FE U2) / CodeBench / Imagine / Blender Lightwave 2019 / Microsoft Visual C++ |

I Have an LG DVD RW drive, it requires TWO usb connections at the same time, one to power the divice and one to do the USB stuff.
Works on Classic A4000, Mac and Linux.

I solved the problem myself. I used a USB hub with a separate power supply. Evidently Amiga USB ports don't have enough power to support optical drives. They need a boost. _________________ X5000 / microA1(OS4.1 FE U2) / CodeBench / Imagine / Blender Lightwave 2019 / Microsoft Visual C++ |
