Not going to dig in that video, but I think no.
xena on x1000 is capable of some 400Mbit/second speed, while the CPU can easily handle 10Gbit/second with very low CPU usage.
So ... xena is definitely not a accelerator. But it can provide interfacing and HARDrealtime control aid to some other high bandwidth device sitting on some PCIe slot, etc... _________________ - KimmoK // For freedom, for honor, for AMIGA // // Thing that I should find more time for: CC64 - 64bit Community Computer? |

"I think that an user wrote a first tool to program xena."
Yes, some xcore developer tools have been ported to AOS4 by Lyle Hazelwood. http://blog.hyperion-entertainment.biz/?p=654
"It's something related to midi and audio,..." I think no, but it seems Lyle is a audio guy and audio interfacing is one of xcore strengths, so... And now when Lyle is a new AOS4 core Developer we should see more from him. _________________ - KimmoK // For freedom, for honor, for AMIGA // // Thing that I should find more time for: CC64 - 64bit Community Computer? |

I'm considering building an X1000 system, mainly for AOS 4.X software development. Does anybody know which (if any) supported graphics cards will allow me to connect the X1000 to a DisplayPort only monitor which runs at 2560x1440 resolution?
Thanks, Andy |

We had a customer ask us this question. Unfortunately Apple Display Port is not supported by any PCIe cards on OS 4.1. I looked for an adapter extensively at the time and could not find one. Does anyone else have an ideas on how to get around this problem?

Displayport is not supported (yet) on any card, you need to get an adaptor for it.
A resolution of 2560x1440 is possible through HDMI (i'm planning to get such a monitor myself)...think i got that info from IRC
As to the supported cards, take a look here |

All the adapters I looked at (on Amazon UK) appear to be limited to 1080p - does anybody know one that isn't please?
Assuming I can find an adapter, can anybody recommend a video card for the X1000 that supports HDMI output and would be fast enough for 2560x1440 (Workbench only)? |

Hi,
We found that the RadeonHD 6670 was fast enough for this. There are also higher end cards such as the 6870 and 6890 which will be fine too. Remember to get a good quality 500W+ PSU. _________________ Amiga Kit Amiga Store Links: www.amigakit.com | New Products | A600GS |

Another couple of questions I'm afraid!
The onboard sound on the X1000 is now supported by AOS 4.1, is that right? So I don't need a separate sound card?
How about the onboard SATA ports, are they supported please? I.e. do I need a separate SATA card? |

Hello Andy
DVI and HDMI worked for us.
Yes, onboard SATA is working on the AmigaONE X1000 with AmigaOS 4.1 - no need for a separate SATA card.
Yes HDAudio 7.1 sound is fully working on the AmigaONE X1000 with AmigaOS 4.1 - no need for another sound card. _________________ Amiga Kit Amiga Store Links: www.amigakit.com | New Products | A600GS |

Don't be, that's why we are here

Yes and no Using the onboard sound in my X since a long time now, working fabulously

Onboard SATA was supported from the start (at least when i got my X), so no extra card needed
In fact, the only extra card you still need is LAN (but that will be added to your AmigaKit order automatically) |

Great, thanks! I'm building the machine myself so have ordered only the motherboard (so far) from AmigaKit, so will need to order a network card - any recommendations please? |

I'll leave that to AmigaKit, but my X has a Realtek RTL-8100/8101L/8139 PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter. |

A Realtek 8139 rev A to C (PCI).
For some reason, we found rev D are hit and miss on working with the OS 4.1 driver. Maybe due to the firmware of the respective card.

Good find, I've ordered it from Amazon UK and will report back - only one review there and it was a bad one, saying it didn't work at 4k. Hopefully it still might at 2560x1440! |
