| YouTube video about dual displays on my X1000
Hey, folks. I just uploaded a video to my YouTube channel about how I use two monitors and video cards with my X1000. Still having a great amount of fun with my A-Eon computer and the latest version of AmigaOS -- and in fact have enjoyed using software on that system for editing this video.

| Great video, mbrantley!
The tutorial at the end for setting things up is invaluable.
Thanks!

Interesting :) Btw how did you created this video? You said it is entirely done on Amiga. How? Which video software??? You mixed video from camera and audio [spoken from off] + SRec video? _________________ nykk | deetronic.rs | youtube.com/djnykk | gfx.river | mamavolibebu.com |

| Thanks, guys.
@djnick
I used VideoClipper (bascially a front end for Mencoder) to trim and arrange video clips shot with my camera or recorded with SREC and then join those clips into a new video file.
Thanks to recent MPlayer advances (see ongoing thread over at Amigans.net), I find I am able to play back 720p videos on my X1000 (using composition mode in liveforit's MPlayer beta). I could not do that before under AmigaOS with this machine. That inspired me to make a video on the X1000 in 1280x720.
Sorry my lighting was not so good in the camera shots, so they are bit fuzzy with noise as the camera ISO is bumped up pretty high. The SREC sequence at the end is, of course, much clearer in 720p. I hate, hate, hate recording my voice and had such a hard time of it that I did not want to do it over again even if I could improve the video quality of the camera shots.
I used ffmpegGUI to convert my 30fps H264 camera footage to 24fps MJPEG footage, which was easier to handle when editing on my X1000. VideoClipper was also used to combine the audio file (recorded on my Zoom H4N recorder to SD card) with the SREC video for the last sequence.
Title screens were thrown together quickly with Hollywood Designer, though I could have used any graphics program for that and that was way overkill for such an awesome program as Designer. But Designer did allow me to quickly record those title screens out as video files, saving me a bit of ffmpegGUI work on that. A wished-for feature for VideoClipper (hey, Kevin!) would be loading a still image or sequence of still images and have the software hold or render those out as video for a time specified.
ktadd, thank you for your tools (VideoClipper especially)! Thank you, Varthall, for Mencoder. Thanks to liveforit and the others working on MPlayer updates. (Composition output mode makes for MUCH improved video playback on Radeon HD cards over what we had before, bringing 720p video into reach for AmigaOS.) Thanks to anyone else who had a hand in this stuff, from Hyperion to A-Eon to Hans de Ruiter for the Radeon HD driver to basement coders around the globe working on Amiga software and hardware in this age.
One day, I hope we have a video editing solution as nice as Video Toaster Flyer was in its day (I have one of those still), but in the present there are some tools available now to make and play HD videos on this platform. They just require a bit of work and some compromise here and there. Last edited by mbrantley on 26-Apr-2014 at 01:34 AM.

| Does anyone know if you can do dual monitor using PCI and PCIe, or does this only work with both cards in PCIe slots? I've tried the former and the OS only sees the PCI card until I remove it.

I have read that the X1000 has shitty 33mhz pci slots. Any graphics card you put in them will be massively hobbled. Whoever thought to allow such slow slots on such a fast Amiga should be ashamed. |

It has been ages since I did this and I no longer use this configuration. But eventually I learned that I could use a PCI video card at full speed by utilizing a PCI adapter in a PCI-X slot in my X1000. I did this for a while as a second card before my PCIe card was supported by Warp3D.
EDIT: Oops, I clicked on my recent topics rather than recent topics, and this is why I replied to such an ancient thread. But I will leave it be. Last edited by mbrantley on 16-Oct-2023 at 04:09 AM.
