As far as I remember, the preorder and purchase of this emulator cost me quite a bit. It was supposed to be a super‑cool virtualizer that would bring PowerPC to the classic Amiga and finally fill the gaps we had back then — and instead practically nothing worked: endless loading times and software that was basically unusable… a huge disappointment. And at the time I had a CyberStorm with a 604 at 233 MHz paired with the 060 and a CyberVision.” _________________

You probably mention iFusion, not Sheepshaver. Sheepshaver was made for Beos originally by ShapeShifer author which convert asm later to C and created Basilisk2. Currently OS3, OS4 and Morphos has own Basilisk2 ports. Some of code from Basilisk2 is used in Sheepshaver, so gui/disk/audio/graphics/input was easily adopted.
The real problem is direct mode. In 90ties we used prepareemul to allocate first 4 or 8 kb which was used by macos for scratch memory. It worked nices in 68k ecosystem but fails on MorphOS on AmigaOS4.1. So i created simple JIT for interpreted PowerPC on PowerPC emulator. It gives around 80 mips on G5 PCIe 2.3. It's not that bad but most games require more. I'm checking the possibility to make direct mode for PPC, but is not that easy as 68k. Last edited by rzookol on 22-Jul-2026 at 11:57 AM.

You’re absolutely right! Unfortunately, memory plays strange tricks as we get older… I had a real trauma with iFusion . SheepShaver, on the other hand, works perfectly on Mac. I used it a lot on my G5 with phenomenal performance I should have a video about it. Actually, I found it, and I’m sharing it! SheepShaver and Windows 98 performances on G5 quad
Having SheepShaver up and running, guys, is amazing you can finally use on MorphOS applications that until not long ago were unthinkable to run natively. Too bad I no longer have my Pegasos II… I would have had a blast doing test after test. _________________
