FFmpegRecorder MP4 is a 64-bit application I developed to allow you to record your screen in high-quality MP4 format. It can capture the entire screen or specific portions of it. FFmpegRecorder is available in six of the most common languages, and additional languages can be added upon request.

“Full Screen” mode captures the entire screen in the same format set in the system.

The GUI can be minimized and thus hidden during recording; to bring the GUI back, simply click on the minimized icon.

Custom screen capture is possible using X and Y coordinates; the sum of these values must never exceed the screen’s resolution. If it does, the MP4 file will be saved incompletely and will therefore be corrupted.

The program allows you to set the recording duration; recording cannot be interrupted, otherwise the saved MP4 files will be corrupted and may cause a Guru if clicked.

FFmpegRecorder also allows you to choose the path and specify the name of the video file to be saved. To function correctly, it requires the latest version of FFmpeg created by Retrofaza, which must be installed in SYS:C

You can add backgrounds or configure other preferences using ZunePrefs!

Once testing is complete and the 32-bit version has been compiled, it will be released—including the source code—on the Aros Archive.

@AMIGASYSTEM

I find SimpleScreenRecorder very handy sometimes on my main Linux Mint PC, so it's great to hear you've developed something similar for AROS.

I made some changes that took longer than expected. Now, when the program is in full-screen mode, you can choose from various video resolutions, and recording starts with a 3-second delay. This will allow you to minimize the GUI and thus hide it during video capture.

Of course, after all the changes, I had to recreate the catalogs for 6 languages (see screenshot).

After thorough testing, FFmpeg Recorder MP4 (MP4-ScreenRecorder) will be available, including the source code. The source code is native AROS 64-bit, meaning it’s designed to be compiled on AROS using the system’s GCC.

Of course, the source code is also compatible with AROS x86; simply compile it with the system’s GCC to run MP4-ScreenRecorder on AROS x86 as well.

The same applies to AROS 68k, but at the moment the GCC doesn’t work well there—at least for large source code files. We hope it will be updated so that many AROS 32/64-bit applications can also run on AROS 68k.
