If there are no Core updates in the short term, the new AROS One 2.7 or the update for those who don't want to install it from scratch will be released for Christmas, the update will be substantial given the many updates including the new OWB 2.0.

For the release of OWB 2.0 in addition to the new buttons created the past few days, I have also created some small backgrounds for the GUI that can be replaced with the usual script executed by Icona, you can see the Skins from the attached screenshot.

Thanks to ZUNE for the next version of AROS One I am creating "clothes" for all Applications that allow the change of Skins or Buttons.

Application users for each will be able to choose the background for the GUI or a set of available buttons by clicking on the appropriate Icon.

Advanced users will be able to add their own backgrounds or buttons by editing scripts and paths in the MUI/ZUNE configuration

I enclose a screenshot showing some skins already created for some Audio Players

@AMIGASYSTEM

Can you make minimal MINT plus AROS x64 with multi core, its best software
and inside Linux that ScalOS port and apps?
Plus optional registration of AmiKit XE?

I would pay for such bootable AROS, esp. if its based on MINT LMDE

If I paid for Ubuntu for x1000, why not for AROS?

If Windows is for some reason prefferable, then based on ReactOS

@ppcamiga1

AROS needs some more native PC support, but works as Virtual Box

Hi vox, unfortunately I do not use and am not a Linux expert, but AROS also exists in hosted Linux and AxRuntime versions, you can download everything here:

https://axrt.org/downloads

You can get all the information on how to install them on linux here:

https://www.arosworld.org/index.php

If you like the graphics of AROS One, you can always integrate the graphics part!

@AMIGASYSTEM

Oh intend to on my Linux LMDE MINT and am aware, but thnx for links.

I tried AEROS one good concept, maybe continue that distro?
https://archiveos.org/aeros/

Think of these things integrated in your AROS - mixed Linux distro and I will donate
and use it, even pay for it.

I paid Trevor for kernel insertation, didnt I?

As I said, I am not a Linux expert and could not do any assistance, try asking in the link I attached, maybe someone will be able to satisfy your request.

If you are really interested in AROS, why don't you install AROS on a native PC, or even on a virtual machine?

@AMIGASYSTEM

I would natively best but it requires specialized set of old mobo and gfx that I dont have.

I do run it via Amiga Forever or in Linux virtual box, but I would preffer custom Linux for AROS

You can install a Linux system of choice and on top AROS hosted, that way you are not dependent of your hardware.

I don't even know how faster it would be running AROS native vs hosted, if, at all.

@pixie

Its faster native.

I can run AROS and AmiKit XE in my choice, MINT LMDE

But I am asking for instaboot with minimal linux background which can also yield a bit more of speed and would be fast boot to AROS.
Would pay for such distro and I bet it would sell better then Ubuntu x1000 by AEON

I am talking about running Linux natively and AROS on top of it. No emulation at all. But if you're saying that native AROS is that much faster than hosted, I would like to see those numbers. Sadly my PC cannot run AROS native, only hosted... And even if it could run it native, it would be a matter of having native graphic drivers vs versa, and how those native graphic drivers compare with running on top of hosted Linux. I would love to see some comparison!

No one did direct tests BUT simply there is no Linux plus hosted overhead.

https://aros.sourceforge.io/documentation/users/hardware.php
https://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Aros/Platforms/x86_support

I believe AresOne was machine built in for native AROS so ask its author

A video card is not strictly necessary to run AROS x86, even in VESA mode it is perfect, the only problem is not being able to run 3D games.

Many PCs from the 2005/2015 period support AROS, you will find the compatibility list HERE

However, AROS x86 'is not' a system you can emulate, even if you run it in Virtual Machine it is still a real system, AROS 68k on the other hand can be emulated with WinUAE or other emulators.

My AROS One x86 is only inspired by my old AfA One distribution (3.9 BB4 AfA OS).

The creation of Skins for the various System and Third Party Applications continues, of course it is hard work to create the themes for all the Applications installed on AROs One, except those for which a White GUI remains the best choice, see the small GUIs that have only Buttons.

All the skins are based on the new type configurations I created for Zune, for the uninitiated, Zune as well as MUI, have a configuration program that allows you to create a general type configuration for all the Applications that use it, for example if we give a Red background to a window, all the Applications that use that window will see it as Red.

If, on the other hand, we want each application to have its own "unique" preferences, Zune, MUI saves will have to be made from the MUI/Zune settings of the programme; this can also be done for those applications that do not show this item in the preferences, in which case this function is activated by enabling the appropriate Gadget.

I enclose a screenshot that shows some skins that make some GUIs more attractive and modern, and others such as HDToolBox indispensible since a too light or too dark background would not allow a good reading of the texts since in the same GUI the texts are both White and Black.

AROS One by Default will have the usual White GUI, then each user will be able to choose the various configurations from those available for each Application, to do this just click on the Icon of the chosen Configuration and that configuration will be stored as the default setting of the programme.

Replacing Backgrounds and Buttons will not require a reboot, the icon will run a script that will delete the old settings from both ENV and ENVARC.

Can you adopt DJ Nicks OS4 theme to AROS?

OS4 Themes are not compatible with AROS there is a ThemeEditor that allows you to convert Themes between OS4, MOS and AROS but it is not easy to do the conversion.

On AROS One however there are 34 complete Themes to choose from!

AFAIK AROS doesn't support that round transparent windows. AmigaOS4 is quite advanced in that regard.

Hardware compositing engine
With the latest version of Workbench, graphics card features can be used to add graphics effects to windows, like shadows and real time transparency. With these, the user can choose inactive windows to be transparent to any extent he wishes. Also, drop-down menus and the AmiDock can be made to appear transparent.

https://www.amigaos.net/content/1/features

https://www.amigans.net/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?post_id=141809

That would be a good bounty for AROS!
