@OlafS25

That is de facto case with OS4. Enhancer was huge improvement I loved, and felt money was well invested in (except then newer version bumped that required new purchase) ...

Classess are well developed and finally OS has e.g. progress bar that is not a MUI Class.

But outside Enhancer examples and shipped software it was not used.

It would be best if in future Ehancer 68k and OS 3.2 and Enhancer PPC and OS4 could merge. I understand current war stops that, but that is only sensible to make new de facto standard for others to follow and use - to make it live.

So on original question, it cannot push AROS as it is not open source. But it can strenghten OS 3.2 and OS 4 if merged. But that needs legal mumbo jumbo resolved.

I see Amibench v46 as stop gap solution to release A600GS legally clean at present moment.

Isn't it lovely when you piggy back on open source when you need it, but don't feel like contributing back?

@pixie

A lot of components of Amibench are written from the ground upwards as closed source. These began life on the Enhancer Software for PPC machines. They have then be backported to the A600GS.

A good example is the new Time Prefs. It uses several new BOOPSI classes backported from Enhancer Software:

Clock Gadget Class
Select Gadget Class
DateSheet Gadget Class
Shared Image Class
Tickbox Gadget Class
Time Gadget Class

All of these closed gadgets are part of SystemV46 and used to make the user interface:

If we change any AROS components we will be more than happy to send the changed source code back.

@amigakit

But… isn’t clock controlled by host OS?

@kolla

We have a small commodity called TimeGuard that runs in the s/user-startup. It connects to the NTP server specified under the Time Prefs Advanced tab section. In every boot of Amibench it synchronises the time using that NTP server.

@amigakit

So what exactly happens when you press "save" in time prefs?
Is time saved on the host system's physical RTC, or is there an emulated RTC?

I prefer to have system time maintained on both host system and inside emulator, so I typically leave NTP and hardware clock to host OS, and then just use "SetClock LOAD" to sync emulator with host system time.
