Unless this can run 68k applications like MorphOS does, I'm afraid that it's of little interest to me personally.

The only two reasons I care about AROS are as an open source ROM replacement for real/emulated 68k machines or as a potential way of running existing 68k applications on a more powerful platform as a first-class citizen, i.e. without being sandboxed into UAE/Janus.

If all applications have to be special AROS ones then I could instead use Linux on a Raspberry Pi and have current applications or Windows/Linux on Intel and have massively faster current applications. Everything has UAE, even my old phone.

AROS is primarily aimed at developers unless you have system friendly 68k applications to make a connection back to the original system.

The original 68k applications are what keeps me on Amiga, Amithlon and MorphOS, not the look of the UI or having an OS that lacks most modern standard features.

It is not entirely clear to me how things get merged back.

you simply commit whatever you specifically want to, be it files or dirs and simplyadd a comment to the content. i dont need to go more into detail on that, do i?

I have to admit that I have no experience working with mixed source control systems.

I have worked with svn in the past, 10 years in fact, but I rather stay clear from it these days.

is this contradiction on purpose? no matter that, aros main repo is svn, you can go git though, as jason and michal did, i suppose.

If I contribute something, someone would need to look into it and approve it, how does that happen?

there is no clear rules on that matter to date i guess. main concern with the contributors is their own sanity and good will. in my case since im absolutely the bottom what concerns programming abilities i try to listen to my mentors and secure their expertise and agreement before i commit. i only go ahead and commit stuff that wont bother others and wont break anything, like currently some content in ports, im working on.
