I have written an isometric platform game in Hollywood:

Background story of the game:
The PPC Amiga systems are waiting for new hardware, but without the right mainboards they remain only a dream.

Trevor sets out to collect as many PPC boards as he can and bring them to the Frieden Brothers, who promise to write the drivers that will bring the machines to life.

But the rights around Amiga OS are split apart, and rival interest groups have sent their lawyers to stop him. Jump, dodge, swim, teleport, and fight your way through colorful levels, collect boards and keys, avoid hazards, and help Trevor move the Amiga future one step closer.

Download:
https://a500fan.itch.io/super-trevor-land

Important instructions:
Currently, only the MacOS and Windows versions work well!

The versions for other operating systems are very slow.
Additionally, on Amiga OS4 and MorphOS the sound doesn't seem to work. The plugins for AVCodec and OGG Vorbis are statically linked into the binaries. Nevertheless, the sound does not yet seem to work on these two operating systems.

For the macOS version, after unpacking, you must remove the quarantine flag once in terminal:
xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine super_trevor_land_macosarm64.app

@ruben

Not sure what you mean, but when I click on the link, I see a page on itch.io just fine.

Unfortunately, it's not available for the platform I use, so I haven't downloaded it yet. Plus, it requires Hollywood, which opens another can of worms, by which I mean that (a) I'm too lazy to mitigate my ignorance of whether a Hollywood Player is free-as-in-beer, so that I could play it without forking over my dough, and (b) if it isn't, then I don't think I'd want to fork over said dough just to (censored because people are absolutely humorless these days).

@ruben
The link works for me.
Was it perhaps just a temporary problem?

@simplex
Which platform are you using?
I have just added downloads for Linux x64, Linux ARM64, and Linux PPC.

The archives on the download page are standalone binaries.
No additional Hollywood Player or similar is required.

@ruben
Thanks for the hint.

I have just tried it again in a private browser tab without being logged in.
The download buttons worked there.

Does anybody else experience problems with the download?

@A500Fan

sound works on morphos here (3.20 and G5 PCIe 2.3 Ghz), although the game is quite slow. Could you generate version without background?

@rzookol

Many thanks for the information; I'm glad the sound works on MorphOS 🙂

I'll do some experimenting to finish a version that runs faster on MorphOS, AmigaOS 4, and AROS.
In addition to omitting backgrounds, I could also reduce the resolution.

There is now also a HTML5 version of the game.
It can be played directly in the browser by visiting the page:

@radar
Thank you.

Maybe this alert is coming from your virus scanner rather than itch.io itself?
I recall hearing that the Hollywood runtime sometimes triggers false positives. If that is the case, I hope the antivirus software vendor corrects the false alarm.

By the way, there are cheat codes too:

If you type "immortal" at the title screen, you get infinite lives.
You can also type "jumpto(level number)" at the same screen; for example, "jumpto4" warps you straight to Level 4.

However, the level design is intended for you to be sparing with your lives. Using cheats lets the game make a lot less sense 😉

Thanks for the web version and cheats. I gave up after level 3 and resorted to them to defeat the boss!

@A500Fan

Which browser can you use to download the game?

I reckon very few people can actually download Super Trevor Land; on Windows, neither Firefox nor Chrome allows the download, and even on AROS, OWB has quarantined the link.

It’s not an antivirus issue; in my opinion, it’s the browsers that are quarantining the links.

The online play works, so the problem is only with the download links – perhaps it’s the type of archive that isn’t supported!

@AMIGASYSTEM
I just tested it with several browsers. Here are the results I got:
Mac OS Tahoe 26.5.1
- Firefox - Download worked right away
- Safari - Download worked right away
- Chrome - Download worked right away

Windows 11
- Edge - Download worked right away
- Chrome - Download worked right away
- Firefox - Warning page; I had to click "I understand the risks, let me download anyway"

At least on Windows, I did see that warning with Firefox. It also stated that the archive was password-protected and therefore suspicious—which isn't true; it’s a standard ZIP archive with no password protection.

@A500Fan

This game is awesome! The characters are well recognizable and the overall graphics are great! There is even a story behind all of this.

I was laughing my heart out when I got caught by the lawyer for the first time. Just great!

This is fun++! I love it!

@A500Fan

I have carried out tests on Windows 7 64-bit, Windows 8 64-bit and Windows 10 32-bit; on all systems and with every browser, I receive the following message:

WARNING: This Page Has Been Quarantined

I would like to add this game to my AROS One 32-bit distribution, ‘if you authorise it’

I use Linux x64, but HTML5 seems to work fine, and I prefer to avoid the download.

The HTML5 version is pretty fun. I don't really recognize the characters -- i'm not that deep into Amiga lawsuits etc. -- but as a time killer there are worse things one can do.

I understand this to mean that this game scratches you where it itches; correct me if I'm wrong. But it makes sense; I can easily see you killing the main character over and over and over and over...
