Umm... what do you mean? This game was released for a "next-gen Amiga" almost 20 years ago.. in 2006 IIRC. Or are you (re)defining "NG" as 68k clones instead of PPC ones now?

Yes the game was ported to MorphOS some time ago.
I know because actually I was the person working on the MorphOS port, at that time.

Comparing both ports I can share you what I see:

1) the same game runs now for 68K a lot better and more stable than it did on MorphOS.
2) the 68K version of the game runs very smooth - its not only more stable but looks also smoother on 68K than it did on Pegasos back in the time.

The game is a great game, in my opinion its even a fantastic game.
It an absolute marvel that I look forward a lot to play again.

Except they didn’t make it, they ported it, and not for Amiga, but for V4 Apollo Core.

Will be interesting to see what the real owners of this game has to say about this unlicensed port. What I don’t grasp is why Apollo team cannot group up with some game developer and make unique games that levarage the unique hardware they have available, rather than caughing up ports of old stuff.

I didn't say it wouldn't be a good news. I just commented about your sentence which made it sound that this hasn't been possible or available on NG earlier, when it has actually been done decades ago and been sold as a commercial game for NG Amigas. And there have been many other similar games too.

I had a quick look at the video and it looked the same as it has been looking on my NG machines always.

But if this new port works generally on 68k/RTG/AHI, and would be better than the old port as advertised, I'd be interested to get it on my (non-Vampire) NG machines again. It is a good game after all.

@kolla

I dont mind it. More titles that never came to Amiga are always good
e,g. PPCHunos ports of Doom 3 or Return to Castle Wolfenstein, these one included.

In Apollo case, I believe they will charge for the port but require user to have data files,
just as Huno and other porters do. That makes a port legal.

Not at all - the ports you mention (Huno) are open source (GPL it seems) engines made publicly available by the IP owner, that’s not at all the case with this game.

Careful, I think A-EON has the copyright on that tag line.

Also, I recommend learning to play chess.

Thanks for sharing.

This is definitely my kind of game. Now I just need to find the time to play it.

Funny that you mention chess, as this game reminds me of battle chess.
Guess I better stick to real life archery…

@vox

you should join the apollo discord, they will tell you what the deal is on the license. I dont want to speak for them. I do know you will not use your own pc version of the files. :) New amiga software is awesome when they tune it for the hardware instead of just compiling it and saying here ya go.

@agami

I hear you there man! They are still tuning the rest of the levels to run as good as the first one. I guess it gets more demanding on the hardware so they are on the case :) good news is you got time,maybe lots of time to get all your stuff done so you can play it !!
