Well 30fps in 16bit colour, 20 in 24bit, 15 in 32bit.

Assuming there is a 24bit mode and not just a 32bit mode.

I don't think Radeons support 24-bit mode (it's not exposed through P96 anyway). Dropping down to 16-bit would cause banding when playing back some types of video, and there's the question of how well the system can merge 16-bit writes into 32-bit blocks to match the width of the PCI bus. If it cannot do that (or not with 100% efficiency) then 16-bit may not be much faster.

But this is 2005. We really shouldn't be having to drop down to 16-bit screen modes to keep the frame rate up. It's going to be funny (in a grind-your-teeth kind of way) if uA1 owners fit a Radeon 9200 to get faster graphics and end up watching their frame rates dive because it only has one quarter the bus bandwidth of the built-in Radeon 7000.
