Hmm...Interesting idea. Are you planning on doing the same for the Hyperion staff that are also members?

Hi CyberViking2000 :)

Regarding your reply to my comments on MorphOS activity here, I would agree with you that the MorphOS community appear to be extremely negative towards AmigaOS, and that I very much doubt we'd be welcome in THEIR forums. I'm not sure wether that's an accurate protrayal of the entire MorphOS community or just a few of the moaners, but I'm just going on the experience I've had so far. I visited a MorphOS IRC room to ask some Qs about installing MorphOS0.4 to see what it's like, but as soon as I mentioned that AmigaOS4 would remain my main OS regardless of wether I had an interest for MorphOS or not, that was it I was flamed right out of the buliding!!!

But I would like to think that the AmigaOS community does not have to stoop to the levels of other communties where competing factions are flamed constantly.

Wether MorphOS discussion becomes welcome here or not I don't really mind, since I'm an AmigaOS user which definately IS welcome here and if I want to talk about MorphOS there are other places as well. If MorphOS posts DO appear here though, I would suggest that unless people have constructive replies to contribute to the threads, that they don't contribute anything at all. All I'm really saying is, let's not let AmigaWorld become a platform for MorphOS flaming. If they want to imsult AmigaOS users on their forums that's fine, but AmigaOS forums should know better than that.

I suppose the decison on which Operating Systems/Computer Platforms are welcome for discussion here and which aren't ultimately lies with what Davey decides he wants. Afterall it's his community site and, based on the advice of it's members, it will be him who has to decide on the future direction of the site.

Welcome to AmigaWorld though CyberViking2000!!! I think this is the first time we've spoken :)

It will be up to the Amiga Community to decide wether or not we add forum for MorphOS users, by voting in the Poll at http://amigaworld.net/modules/xoopspoll/pollresults.php?poll_id=4

Not that I think I deserve special treatment, I'm just here to yakk about our favorite platforms and topics. However.. thanks.

Some thing can be said for OS/2 Warp and Windows 95/NT4.0, i.e. both has the same origins but both presented a different path in regards to 32bit future OS progression.

Hi All,

i just registered, and wanted to say hello.
A link to AmigaWorld was provided in one of the posts at ann.lu, mighty good of them to point me to such a nice site, hehe. I don`t have neither time nor interest for reading flames at ann anymore, guess all of my spare energy goes to waiting for new Amiga+OS... :)
I really like what i see so far, at last there seems to be a friendly place again for Amigans.
Well, that`s all what i had to say for now. :)
Good luck everyone.

Hi, and welcome!

It's quite amazing, the animosity you will find against this site over there...seriously, what's some people's problem? A group of people who are mainly interested in Amiga ("the Name(TM)") move to a site more geared towards our interests, and suddenly we're all a bunch of wankers who can't think for ourselves? Why can't people respect that different people have different interests? I think this behaviour is petty.

Oh well, it doesn't really matter. I stopped posting at ANN years ago. It's a good site for finding information, but the number of obnoxious people there makes civil debate a near-impossibility.

Anyway, I sure am glad to see so many nice people signing up here.

Kay

@DaveW

I stuck my oar in a couple of times but there were plenty of posts in defense of the site and I didn't think it would be worth repeating myself. Some of the responses to the original post were breathtakingly stupid.

I did read the posts but I didn't bother with a reply. Sometimes it's better to just keep out of the way, afterall even with the best intensions all you're really doing is fuelling their flames aren't you. They WANT you to defend just so they can flame you some more.

I don't have time for any of that nonsense and hence why AmigaWorld is my main Amiga Forum and has been for quite some time.

@Kay:

Thanks :)
IMO ann was and is a good site, it`s not their fault there`re so many trolls around. Trolls, goblins etc. usually breed during Dark times, it`s natural. :) Perhaps that moronic bitching over there will gradually cease when companies start to deliver real products... There were and are a lot of good and polite people at ann.lu, they just don`t seem to post a lot nowadays.

Hi all. I'm WaveGuide. I'm a pure Amiga hobbyist, so I reckon I'll be happy to visit here without being too browbeaten by the more 'serious' members of the Amiga fraternity.

I've noticed a few familiar faces (avatars) hereabouts, which suggests I'm in good company.

Anyway, let's all look forward to some really interesting Amiga discussions without any pseudo-political/personal/vendetta type outpourings, most of which are totally over my head!

Cheers,

WaveGuide
