So you would rather get an unfinished OS4 release then get another update
in between ?

Been there, done that, don't need more, what I have will tide me over until OS4 is done.

Quote:
Waiting patiently ? I believe they can use os4upd3 cant they ? Its not like
the time when we had to use linux.

Exactly. And they're waiting patiently for Petunia, a CDDB-able CD player, fuller Warp3D drivers, etc.

Quote:
And what should the people that wait impatiently or the pc users when they
see that theres a cool amigaos but no HW.

Okay, that's what I'm not getting: "no HW." What about people who HAVE it already? What about the "classic" owners who are holding off on buying Blizzards etc. from their dealers until OS4 is out? (Besides...what hardware is ever released without software, except for the rare case of the original AmigaOne boxes?)

Quote:
And read reviews like this os has flaws here and there etc.

Remember a little thing called Windows XP? And how it was released with over 250,000 known bugs? Even with that public knowledge, ol' Billy-boy managed to sell that sucker at ridiculous prices...

Seriously, though, to your average computer user, the OS4 prerelease we have pretty much is a fully-functioning operating system. The only thing that would really give it away is if someone tried to play a game with a joystick.

How well does automatic stack enlargement work? As you remeber there were some people which were pretty sceptic about whether this can really work (or work all that well) in an OS like AOS.

News about hardware?

Last time I checked, Hyperion wasn't a hardware company.

No, really, if there's hardware related news, it's up to the hardware company to present them. Hyperion does not make announcements for other companies.

Strange, works here... www.hyperion-entertainment.biz, www.hyperion-entertainment.com and os4.hyperion-entertainment.com are the same server, anyway...

I fully understand. Nevertheless, you could maybe state something like "We are currently cooperating with company X for adapting..." or stating that you "received a development board from company Y" instead of just saying from which company you didn't receive one (Elbox).

A bit like Rogue and Adam already posted in that ACK-thread. That would help.

@EntilZha

It's the port number. A lot of corporate proxy servers can't (or won't) access HTTP over anything other than port 80.

I've been thinking about this release a beta before final a long time and it makes sense to me. The ethernet driver isn't working like it should and it *have to work* in the final. It just have to!

That's is my main concern... what they choose to release or not, I don't care, as long as that works I'm not cool because they haven't been able to make it work since the first pre-release.

Is it stable? Oh yeah, very stable here. Do I get corrupt files? No never. Is it fast? Well, I guess it's fast on a LAN but on the net it's slow as hell!

That's the problem. Linux Debian on my A1 G4 XE transfers files as fast as it should but the current driver doesn't or does get anywhere close! They *got* to solve this. I'd like to know that it works here and everywhere before the final.

Some months ago I did order my µA1 with a cool case from VESALIA (Germany). Until now no news. Even the dealer doesn't know what's going on!

There was always a batch waiting to be released. It was just waiting for the cpu's. I think Eyetech will come out with some news about it at one point. Again Eyetech are not to blame for not being able to get the A1's. I actually believe Troika will be out before the next/last batch of A1's from Eyetech. It is sad to see when things are going so well there would be some people that want to ruin it. That Hyperion is still doing the job is a miracle. Many, if not all, would already have given up. Not because it cannot be done but because some forces would try anything to destroy it.

it always works, when specifying the port: http://hyperion-entertainment.biz:8080

http://hyperion-entertainment.biz does lead to the os4 website.

how true!

I really hope when AOS4 is released, Hyperion, TROIKA and whoever will sell Amiga HW again so that the demand can be saturated!

Beg your pardon? I think I specifically said in that thread that I won't say anything in that thread. Hyperion does not make the hardware, therefore Hyperion does not make any announcements concerning hardware... I don't see the point.

As I said, Hyperion does not make announcements for other companies... such cooperations are normally made public in a joint press release.

Yes, that is my wish. That everyone who wants to run Amiga OS4 gets to run it. That everyone who needs new hardware to run it, gets the hardware to run it on. That it is available and affordable for all who want it. This is my wish.
