It was over a year ago that I tried the rear connection (ud1) & I noticed a difference from the front connection. Now with ud4, I hear no difference or noise between the two. Check my post #66 to Samwell.
My micro's s# is 15, bought in Feb. '05. Not sure what batch it's from, but I suspect the first. Livewire, at the time I ordered, said they were expecting a small batch of repaired ? boards back from Eyetech & put me on their list for one.
I bought my system in pieces & put it together myself. Scary doing it that way, but the knowledge learned allows me to open the case & change things if I want. Last edited by sundown on 22-Apr-2006 at 09:27 PM.

Yes. I read your other posts. I just wondered if you knew for sure -what- was the element that changed that cured this "ill".
My Micro was purchased months earlier than yours. I would "guess" yours is not from the first batch, unless, as you "indicated" some first batch boards were re-issued.
I admire the work you have done to acquire all the knowledge you have. I had mine professionally assembled, so I could hopefully concentrate on software issues. lol!

| I purchased my MicroA1-C motherboard from LiveWireSystems at the end of November 2004. Serial# 2. I purchased an Antec Minuet case after I received the board. Found that the internal cable from the audio connectors on the front of the case was too short to connect to the MicroA1-C sound header, so I never bothered to hook it up.
Now I'm curious to see if the sound is different.

If you have equal volume & no noise from the rear connection, then you more then likely would not hear any difference from the front connection.
Are you happy with your sound? I'm wondering if the case we use makes a difference as you have an Antec case & Samwel & I use an Antec Aria case. _________________ Hate tends to make you look stupid... |

Other then software updates, the only other thing I've done is change the front mic-in to a line-in & I had to un-bolt & lift the board to make the changes on the audio header. The chassis & the mother board ground are connected when the board is mounted in place. I might be grasping a straws here, but wondering if there's a connection between the audio problem & the case we use. _________________ Hate tends to make you look stupid... |

I've been given a little test to run, which I am postponing until I hear back in this thread from Xenic as to whether he still has this issue. Most of the Micro owners I used to network with don't show up here often, so I don't know if we will get much other input here than from the same few owners like yourself who always respond. Thanks to all that do respond btw.
Let's also be clear that the initial issue discussed in this thread concerning "crackling" has been addressed. This latest discussion is only concerning F/R audio volume/quality on Micro A1-C.

I'm happy with the sound on speakers or headphones. As far are I can tell both sides are equal volume and no noise.

Glad to hear you're micro audio is working as it should. No one has reported any problems with the front audio that I know of yet. _________________ Hate tends to make you look stupid... |

Funny because I always used the front connector before the board swap. Now I see the imbalance you folks wrote about.
