Why the blind whining? To say that no one told him to be more open about the progress of his projects is pure BS. Since he first announced his project and kept the progress to himself, I've seen plenty of complaints about the lack of information all over the place. People got what they wanted, stop the whining. _________________ Sammy Nordström, A.K.A. "Samface"

Noone forced Adam to claim having Linux running in 2004 (me wonders what he actually had working, maybe just a basic setup of the eval board).
Noone forced him to announce availabilty in early 2005.
Noone forced him to fall dead silent when that didn't work out.
Noone forced him to do it again in late 2005.
Noone forced him to time his announcements to coincide with Elbox or Troika "news".
Noone forced him to talk about the PV being "in production".
Noone forced him to promise a CPU-card-demo on that show.
Noone forced him to cancel it in the very last minute.
Noone forced him to promise those pics.
And at last, I'm sure noone forced him to fall dead-silent just after it.
Something like that may happen once, maybe twice, but if it happens at that rate, then there is stupidity involved on atleast one side....
He could have just kept quite till he was ready to show a working proto-HW as a suprise guest on some show.
He could have just been upfront when he found out that he couldn't keep his promises.
All this "only make promises when you know you can't keep them"-attitude is just pathetic and the number 1 reason why the community didn't just shrink in the last 12 years, but also lost so much on quality. _________________ - We don't need good ideas, we haven't run out on bad ones yet - blame Canada |

| I think stupid to start tread in the first place what ever ACK / Adam is able to show the community is not important, what is important in the end of the day is if makes it, I think I drag the “when it done” sign back in her, this community lacks the cool…
Calling Adam a lair is over the top, we don’t know way Adam did not post the pictures, we do not know the details on CPU upgrade module, what ever he get speeds he expects or not on AmigaOne is not important, it’s important that works as advertised on the motherboard.
I know that Adam likes to get as big market as he can for his CPU module to get price down, and to get some return on his investment, Teron (MAI logic) Amiga One-XE, MicroA1 all have a CPU module that can be replaced, if Adam can’t get the speed up on the module then, then maybe the idea behind the CPU module is not worth it, considering Ole Egils past comments on how expensive it is to mount a CPU socket.

My best wishes, but .......
...... it isn't just about those pics, but about the pattern you showed in your PR eversince you announced it for 1st time (read admitting a problem is better than falling silent). _________________ - We don't need good ideas, we haven't run out on bad ones yet - blame Canada |

And noone forced you to whine about it. Again, the success or doom of his projects are not something that is putting us in a worse situation than before. If anything is causing people to leave the Amiga then it is the unavailability of products and the only thing that could possibly cure the situation is if someone does like Adam and tries to get a product out there.
Whining is not constructive nor helpful for our situation. If you don't like things they way they are, don't want to wait and don't want to do anything constructive about the situation, don't let the door hit you on your way out. Thank you. _________________ Sammy Nordström, A.K.A. "Samface"

FFS, snap out of it. There is a world outside of the Amiga world, try living in it some time. _________________ Sammy Nordström, A.K.A. "Samface"

If you don't trust him, ignore his post... but if it is true... he doesn't deserve a stupid post like yours.
@ACK
I'm sorry to read this. As this thread confirm, there is a lot of interest around your project... so even if you had a more serious issue, take the time to post a couple of images, then we will wait others next week hoping all turned ok. _________________ ikir |

Regarding these two options;
Quote:
1. Adam just likes the attention and made this whole thing up, even getting Hyperion in on it too, supporting him by saying that they have a funtional CPU upgrade for their AmigaOne and everything.
2. Adam who used to say nothing about what was going on with his project(s) at all has now been forced to be more open about it due to the pressure from the community, which in turn has lead to disappointments in the community when Adam's announced estimates are not realized as expected.
|
I hope for option no. 2, but I'm afraid it is more option no. 1. If it is no. 2, it hasn't been a wise choice of his to say anything, and I doubt anyone has forced him to say anything.
Naturally it is disappointing when someone set a deadline and this deadline is overstepped. It has happend too many times if you ask me. According to his site about the powervixxen he has had a working board with Linux for over a year, but nothing has been shown yet. That's odd if you ask me; VERY odd.
The one that pays your salery.... would you still have faith that you will get your paycheck, after the payday has been moved so many times, that it's not even worth counting anymore. I don't think so..._________________

What the hell has that got to do with this thread? Whats your point exactly? Well other than being a personal attack anyway? I have said those two things are unlikely. In fact frankly at this point I don't see any chance or long term perspective anymore unless some big company gets involved. x86 would be pointless. 64-bit x86-a likes may not be so pointless, but result in the OS getting lost under the competition. Please tell me what you think should be done??? I just dont see any viable way forward in truth at all... What we need is a bloody miracle.
@Adam Hope everything turns out for the best. Last edited by SvenHarvey on 14-Jun-2006 at 02:35 PM.

I'm sorry, you provided nothing that would make the first scenario even remotely plausible. What would the motive be for him and even Hyperion to make this whole thing up? I mean, it's not like it's making them any money nor enhances their possibility of selling anything. On the contrary, even a three year old can figure out that doing so would be hurting their business and atleast Hyperion are clever enough to program an OS and Adam is obviously clever enough to reroute the IRQ levels of the AmigaOne to correct the DMA problems. Try again. _________________ Sammy Nordström, A.K.A. "Samface"

I hope a moderator will remove his incentive comments soon… We are not all like that, I think that Amigaworld, need better moderation…
The site is starting to be way to negative for me, and all that x86 stuff that goes on there day in and day out… sorry… it’s not going to happen…. I’m think this site is becoming more ann.lu like every day.Last edited by NutsAboutAmiga on 14-Jun-2006 at 02:45 PM. Last edited by NutsAboutAmiga on 14-Jun-2006 at 02:43 PM.

Like Ikir wrote, just ignore him if you don't trust him. You cannot determine with full certainty that he would be lying and therefore you should refrain from such comments. We are, after all, just talking about pictures of computer hardware. Few things in life are less important than that. Last edited by samface on 14-Jun-2006 at 02:48 PM.

Did Merlancia and IWin (...) have any "motive" in your opinion? Did IWin ever tried to make money with something? Most of the things that happened in the last 12 years were far from being "plausible" and "reasonable". Note that I am not saying that Adam belongs to "scenario 1", I can just understand why people might think that way._________________ This signature is in the middle of a much needed facelift! |
