No maria_22 where one that use to post comments on ann.lu, in the most distasteful ways imaginable.

Eva?

Eva was cool, at lest some kind of, even I never (well, rarely) read comments from her. They were deleted too fast, but it was always entertaining seeing many, many deleted posts by her and the many call for less ranting by CK addressed to her.
Those were the days of ann.lu

@Crumb and everyone

The new moderator should be neutral ...

Nobody is neutral and everyone is biased. However, that doesn't prevent someone from acting neutral and making unbiased decisions by taking in all the available data at the time the decision is made.

I would ask how we know somebody whom is of course biased and not neutral is a good candidate? How we know they will be able to make unbiased decisions? How do we know they can work well in the moderation team (it is a team remember)? Heck, how do we even know if they exist when they hide behind an anonymous virtual facade? They might even be a child (< 18 years old in Alberta) for all we know.

I'd suggest reviewing the posting history of each individual. You may also have read emails written by individuals on other mailing lists. Perhaps you've seen them in IRC chat as well.

I suppose you could just pick someone because you like them. Sadly, we do it all the time in Canadian politics. But if you like someone that means squat for how well they will behave as a moderator in the AW.net team. Please make informed choices guys/gals and use the data that is available to you.

@tomazkid

My preferred candidates: cgutjahr, Tigger, Moxee.

The "please, not them" list: Atheist, AmigaBlitter, falemagn, ironfist, polka, samwel, umisef, and most of all hnl_dk.

You can tell if someone can act neutrally from their posts, like this one for example:

Quote:
@ssolie

"Let this BAF be a moderator. I'll clean up the crap filled heck hole. Act like an animal and you will be treated like one. Two words: choke chain."

"Seriously, some people around here just need a behaviour correction. "

etc. etc...

All of the above are certainly considered when Staff picks a moderator, and will likely come into play as we have to shrink the list of submissions down to 10 or so for the final poll(s).

Looks like I am not exactly mr. popular. Thanks for removing Ssolie from your list, he is not a person to place on such a list.
Btw. love your avatar.

Hehe, yep, but it could still take "some" time until he'll be able to come on duty. Only 11417 Days to be precise.

@All,

Can't be ar$ed to read the entire thread, so sorry if this has been said before.

Not all the mods and admins are listed on the "about us" section, and I think some have left. Some mods must have left AW.net or we wouldn't need to recruit one.

Can we have a list of existing mods?

I would have nominated Yo, but she's already there.

Crumbs... that's over 30 years!

Ah yes, created a second account did he, to get past a ban? A definite violation of the ToS. I remember a thread he started, unaware that this RetroGeek was doomy! I felt silly for taking him seriously!

I'm hoping I don't get nominated for a mod (a quite un-founded worry,) but I could still do better than him!
