That directory is on the CD, and it contains a few 68k compiled binaries of some commands in C:

Those are needed for the booting process.

I had just prepared the disk with MediaToolBox and formatted some new partitions, so it had to be empty. Although, after formatting on one occasion, it said there were still files on the partition. I don't know how that came to be, since I formatted within the OS4 installation.

Trying again as I type this Not sure what is causing the problem now.

I have some Duvel on the menu this evening, Rogue. Go on, have one! (not while coding though).

[ED - it's doing it every time now. I can't work out why... *argh*] Bit stuck for ideas atm. What else could cause that problem? Everything seems to be as it was originally. Freshly formatted partitions. OS4 is being installed on DH0: (3gb partition).

#162 and how to setup a Repulse RTA card.

The Repulse is recognized in the AHI prefs, only if i install its repulse.library (along the repulse.a.main) but i can't get any sound out of it.

Paula is working

@stevieu

I had problems when trying to install into a partion in the 1st four gig of a 40 gig hd.

I changed the installation into the 1st 2 gig and all is now well.

You could try that.

P.S. found a pub that served Leffe on tap on Friday.
I was just a bit merry later on in the night.

Well, this kind of language will make it hard to get a decent reply.

The Repulse is, AFAIK, not supported, at least according to the compatibility list.

The X-Surf native driver is under development still.

Sorry for asking an obvious question, but did you leave the Locale and Input
prefs editors with the USE button?

I've found out why my machine is crashing...

It's the Highway card. Take it out and the machine works perfectly. Put it back in and when I format a disk or anything else involving a lot of disk access the machine crashes solid after a little while. Usually about 10% of the way through a 2Gig partition it'll just hang.
This is just the Highway - nothing connected to it.

Incidentally the Highway card works fine under OS3.9 - I use it as standard with just a mouse/keyboard adaptor.

Seems to me there's a bug in the Highway OS4 driver somewhere. If anyone can help, or if I can help diagnose a problem, yell, 'cos it's a pretty annoying bug given I rely on my wireless PS2 keyboard/mouse!

Though my old A4000 doesn't work anymore, and I haven't tested my CyberstormIII in my working A3000 yet, I ordered AmigaOS4.0 anyway, just in case.

-Ten days ago. To date, AmigaKit.com hasn't sent the software to me. I checked their site only to learn that they don't even have it in stock again yet.

So the question to Hyperion (via its most accessible representatives) is whether there is trouble getting the materials produced so that orders can be filled?

What can you tell me regarding this? What's going on at the Hyperion end regarding filling orders for AmigaOS4.0?

Thanks in advance, (though hopefully not too far in advance....)

Yes, I clicked the 'USE' button.

Trying again now, within the first 2gb of the hdd and will see what happens.

Same problem when shrinking the first partiition to less than 2gb, for me. Lost for ideas now, as nothing has changed since the last install

[ED - I give up lol (for the meantime)]

@stevieu

Have you tried using the other hd?
You could back up your Voodoo/Mediator partition and try again.

Will I be able to boot OS4 with my Vlab Vision connected? I think It is not supported. Or will I need to remove to card to boot it?

@TiredofLife

Nothing seemed to work.

I seem to have damaged my BVision now, also. One of the very tiny components at the bottom of the board (below the 4 chips) has come loose/twisted (don't ask me how), so it seems I am totally screwed. The chances of getting another...pretty much zero.

*thinks about ebaying the lot*

Yippee.

Please, let OS4 be released for SAM

Steve

@Quixote

It does not work with Cyberstorm III. You need CyberstormPPC, or BlizzardPPC.

When they sell out of existing OS4 stock, they order more, and that takes time. That's a normal process. I'm waiting for the next delivery too. :)

what option should I change in my kicklayout-A4000 file , so OS4 recognises the OS4 partition after it's first warm-reboot? (so the amiga won't try to read the 3.9 partition that has higher boot priority )
