It would help them sell more of their PPC chips after all.
But would it? If the emulation is slower than running on real hardware (or attracts enough new users that ACube or someone can start making faster hardware) then demand for PPC systems could increase. But if the emulation is at a similar speed or faster than available hardware the market for PPC Amigas would probably dry up. So much depends on the performance of emulation...

Out of interest, what would your thoughts be if the emulation worked as transparently as Amithlon (i.e. the computer appears to boot direct into AmigaOS, like it does for an AROS install)?

As long as a PPC hardware is produced I don't see this happening. And before I know what Hyperion is up too with their "most ambitious project" I am not really interested.
But as a transitional step towards OS4 on X86 it might be a good idea (depends on SPEED). If speed could be optimised with some native drivers for video and sound and more and more could get replaced with native stuff i would be interested in this solution.
As for making a bounty etc. you really need to discuss these matters with hyperion to see if they have the slightest interest. I doubt they have until they see the either positive or negative result from their ambitious project.

That depends on the host hardware. Rosetta didn't seem to bother too many Mac users when OSX went x86 and the x86 (or rather x64) architecture has improved significantly since then.
JIT emulation of PPC on x86/x64 isn't likely to be too slow these days. Even altivec functionality can be emulated at a reasonable speed .
