Hahaha, someone did a (imho cheesy but funny) mockup and both devs spring up to make sure their shot was teh rael deal. Why oh why? Be proud and and deliver and laugh away at the naysayers instead. I mean, you've done it before, right?

Good advice, but sometimes thats hard when people over and over make you feel like you have a target painted on your back. And lets be honest. We have a lot of nasty folks in this community. They are the minority, but they make a lot of negative noise. If the Friedens didn't respond there would be people taking that as validation that their screenshot was fake too, and broadcasting that opinion, possibly painting it as fact. Lose-lose. Which fracking sucks. Walk a mile in those shoes and then see how you feel.

Ok, so are you implying that I faked the shot ? Are you ?

Sorry to disappoint you, but contrary to you I don't have to fake my screenshots.

i know that this porting and screenshot are true ;)
sorry, if you bad understand my jokes

Thank you for the clarification Seiya. I don't want us to have to lose our sense of humor here either. But given history its probably helpful to denote a joke a little more, maybe an emoticon or a j/k (just kidding)? Just a friendly suggestion.

@fairlanefastback

Well, looking back, they strapped their own shoes and walked. And if these shoes don't fit too well (or are strapped too tight) and begin to hurt, who's to blame?

Comments like this are uncalled for. Developers for any product do not needlessly have to put up with everything they do being called fake or called into question, which seems to happen a lot to those involved with OS4 (more so than any other AmigaOS derivative).

Take this as a warning.

@_Steve_

Thanks for the warning, but eh?

Imho the "AROS FireFox" grab was clearly a fake/joke (and even admitted by the poster later on since ppl went monkeydoodle) and I commented on that. Now my second comment is being frowned upon while I just state (again) my opinion that ppl should follow their chosen path instead of defending themselfs. Your reply makes me wonder: why do the ppl involved with OS4 (seem) to "have to put up with everything they do being called fake or called into question (more so than any other AmigaOS derivative)."?

Nice work, guys

I have a (probably dumb) question: you've said that Firefox does all its own rendering of on-page gadgets. What about dialog boxes? (eg right click->Save Target As) Is that done also by Firefox, or does the browser use native dialogs for this sort of thing?

Also, are you planning on adding any Amiga-specific enhancements (project icons with tooltypes, file comments in downloaded files with the source URI, that sort of thing) or is it going to be a "keep it close to the original" type of thing?

Nice, glad to see it moving along.

It looks like the project was mature before it was announced which is fair enough in Amiga-land.

@Rob

That is probably Firefox' generic error when it can't open a file for whatever reason so I think it's just unimplemented functionality.

It's not that simple, and you know it.

The reason for the mockup was to suggest that we made a mockup. It's that old camp thing again, plain hatred, and plain envy.

Fear. Uncertainty. Doubt.

I just about had it with this "community".

You are entirely missing the point.

Yes, it was a joke. Yes, most people see through it. However, it suggests. It suggests that ours was a fake too. A few people buy that crap, and jump on the wagon. People who make such screenshots can always raise their hands saying "hey it was a joke", which falls into the same category as asking "Is calling you an idiot an insult?".

If you want to know, we did not post anything here, on this site, because I 100% expected it to happen. Why? Because it ALWAYS happens.

Yes, afterwards they say "oh, my are you jumpy, it was a joke". No it wasn't. It was a deliberate attempt to discredit the screenshot.

THAT is why we didn't post anything here. Because of people like that, people that try to rain on your parade just because you are a different color.

I'm sick of that stuff. Sick and tired because it happens with 100% certainty.

Looking interesting. All they need is a scroll bar.

Wait, oh no! Menu items below the title bar! The menus are emulated. I hate that.

The file could not be opened, and it cannot be created, so Timberwolf things it is used. Probably it's a wrong path (might be an issue with SQLite again), or some untranslated UNIX path.

The Firefox window is only one of many (you can see another one on the screenshot, which is supposed to be hidden - it doesn't have WA_Hidden set yet). The Widget toolkit is a generic toolkit, it can use as many toplevel windows as it likes.

For saving, there are specific classes for file requesters, or you can go with a generic one. We'll probably put an ASL requester there, or make it selectable via a prefs item.

We'll see as we move forward. We plan to implement Amiga-menus for example (MacOS does this as well), and Tooltypes/workbench startup is relatively easy to add since the command line parsing is in a system-specific part. We'll try to make it a "real" Amiga program.

Congrats on the progress so far. I had a look at the Firefox source code once and it made my hair turn grey.
