I hope it is something radical.....even if silly. For instance with OCS, AGA or Natami chipset support built in for perfect emulation performance. After all, selling AmigaOS on the virtue of it retro games would be a big drawcard. But I know it wont. It would be cool though.

I can't help but think that the board is built with A-cube given their apparent cosy relationship with Hyperion. The SAM boards, I imagine, from a design viewpoint, are designed to be modular, allowing for all manner of expansion and re-arrangement and upgrading. I don't see why a-eon would want to re-invent the wheel, especially with the minimal investment some posters are saying they have, and can only think that the new board is an evolution of current SAM boards, even if by licensing. Perhaps we've only seen A-cube dip their toe in the water so far. Perhaps A-cube, is changing its name to a-eon as part of a merger with another entity.

Set top boxes and DVRs are applications for the tech, and are a good way to offset their risk. I would like to think it is a netbook or laptop, and the eye-motion connection might imply that. A netbook would be ambitious, but given other attempts for a PPC netbook, would likely to be underpowered and therefore uncompetitive.

I think the message is "AmigaOne Powe"red. Where AmigaOne is now used as a technology designation and not a model. This may be useful to get around any naming constraints they may have.

Some mention it can only be software as Hyperion only does software. Remember that, according to the founding document, the company Ben, Trevor and Anthony founded develop computer hardware. So a mix of A-eon Technologies and Hyperion can lead to new hardware. Acube could still be supplier of the boards (being specialized in small batches) keeping all parties happy.

The 75500 euro put into the company was at startup (somewhere in April) and is roughly enough to have two western europe based engineers working for about a year (that's not only wages but also cost for all kinds of taxes and insurances). However, it is well possible they found some additional funding in the months after the company was founded. A good lawyer should be capable of getting all kinds of europian union funding for radical developments.

@Amiga_3k

I don't know how it works in other countries, but in Spain, to set up a new company, you have to register some money as "initial capital" as a bureaucracy, it just can be money or even company resources (a building, office furniture, etc).
The bigger amount the bigger taxes you may pay so usually people start business with the least legal amount possible.

@Ami603

You can be right on this. I hope some of it is used to pay engineers / developers. .

Damn, I wished I hadn't come here yesterday (after a longer Amiga hiatus), now I am all hyped up and wondering what "A-EON" and X might be.

Maybe the MAP is simply(!?!?!) to revive the Amiga as a viable computer platform.

Face it, that would be a very ambitious project.

@steril606

I have to admit - "Me too"

I haven't posted here in years, but here I am! I think it's a good thing though, it show's that there are still people out there, interested in the Amiga scene.

If the price/performance is good & you build it, they will come.

I`m not convinced that this is the right way for a company to be treating prospective customers though. As much as I hate it, I am hooked - but I hate it - but I`m hooked - but I hate it....

Frank.

I usually say that Apple is great at marketing and design.

But as marketing goes, this is truly not bad

(slashdot & osnews have picked up on it. )

@Amiga_3k

Yeah, I bet on that! It would astonish my colleagues at work if I went with an amiga laptop at my office or bring it to the class room of my post graduate diploma where we do some basic sql functions right now!

Well, I hope that the release of the hardware won't take long. I would happily pay for a new amiga h/w and have it within the next month!

I'm inclined to agree with you - I am totally hooked too!
