| @All Seems in x5000 distrib there is mistake, and libpng12.so just named as it, but in reality its libpng16.so (check inside of library on version, or even compare size of libpng12.so and libpng16.so). So you need real libpng12.so, which you can take or from os4.1_update2 for example. I also upload it there: http://kas1e.mikendezign.com/aos4/cyrus/libpng12.so
So now blender starts, but results suck probably ? :)
Time: 05:21.48 , for that usual test.blend script. Version of blender are latest from os4depot - 248.7. Tested on 32bit screen, 1440x900 if that make any difference.
Strange anyway, i checked their page , and found for example that:
3635 00:04:59.84 1x Intel® Pentium® 4 3000MHz 3000MHz 2 2048MB WinXP Pro 2.49 test.blend
How it can be, that its about as pentium4 3ghz ?
From other side, found that:
513 00:00:30.69 1x Intel® Xeon® X5355 2660MHz 2660MHz 4 4096MB WinVista 64Bit 2.43 SSE2 test.blend
How it can be such a bit differences betwen those 2 ?

What did you expect, it's a embedded CPU with no SIMD. _________________

Your X5000 is faster than my X1000. Also remember to compare only the exact versions of Blender. Blender v2.49 is 3 times faster than v2.48 on my (1.8GHz Core2Duo) Mac with the same test.blend. Also could you overclock your X5000 to 3GHz, or you have to compensate the numbers, to make better comparison ? Also the CPU's L2 and L3 cache sizes matters. Special compilations of the software to particular CPU models instead of generic CPU machine code matters as well. Somehow I doubt the info in your 2nd PC quote. _________________ Rock lobster bit me. My Workbench has always preferences. X1000 + AmigaOS4.1 FE "Anyone can build a fast CPU. Probably only Trevor with Matt can play overclock games , as they have more than one x5000k :)
As for l3, etc stuff i upload in another topic results from RageMem, check this out.

Not too bad about double speed than G4@1000...maybe with definitive kernel may improve a bit...
On linux with blender 2.48 same result?
And just to know...since broadbluies says that blender was some sort of merge of 2.48 and 2.49(if I remember right) on AmingaOS4.x wich core render was near to AmigaOS version? 2.48 or 2.49 of standard build?
