I agree though.. if it aint the Zalman Silent Case with 5mm plus milled aluminium sides, it aint MIL Spec 8)

Anyone going to build a version?.. I thought it was about £500 or so?

The more people that know the Amiga is still in the land of the living, the more the sales possibilities.

The people that used to own Amigas but didn't know it still existed and don't visit aw.net but may visit Varisys will be shown it's bigger and better than ever.

It would be good for A-EON of course, but looking at it from Varisys' POV, A-EON is a small startup with minimal orders. Now if they designed and built a production mobo that was produced in lots of 10,000 or more, then that is something to release a presser on. It's in any company's best interest to spin a presser to show upward growth of the company's image. A-EON's imagine is enhanced by partnership announcement of Varisys, that's a proper thing to do.

Exactly, it's a BIG deal for A-Eon, it's a "meh" for Varisys. Nothing personal, it's just what happens when the scale of the two companies is so different.

On a side note, it sure looks like an Apple (PA Semi) chip in the X1000, how's that going to sit with the Apple bashers?

Hopefully we will find out this weekend. Unless Apple is going to continue to develope the PPC, I sure do question the wisdom of going to the trouble to develope a mobo with a CPU that is unlikely to go back into production beyond any DoD contract(s). I could see Apple requiring a strict NDA for their hardware but again, is Apple doing more PPC development for third parties? Doesn't seem right.

Not only that, but it dosent even render properly here using latest firefox on linux with latest official flash player.

That would depend on how big Varisys is. Are you saying they are a big firm? Can you show some backup to that? If they are big what you are saying makes sense that it might not be a news item for them. But unless you can back that up you seem to just be fishing to throw out a troll.

Are you really concerned about the wisdon of the decision? I thought you were hoping to see the X1000 fail? If I have the wrong impression please enlighten me.
