| @henry case: oh thanks,. @thread: okay so then its an attempt to be a little more constructive: i wasnt a long time much into it but i'd like to support updating zune in a way that is available to me. that means i can test it on classic hardware and submit reports. there is zune for 68k, and ive just got the sources from bernd so i might be able to compile it here under amidevcpp in order to quickly incorporate fixes if available and test them again. the question is would this kind of reports be of use for aros team, and if so then what kind of reports (f.i. ive got muforce and segtracker up and running most of the time, which indicates most of the illegal mem access that remain undiscovered under lets say uae or something).btw. i could test zune under os4.0 on the same machine as soon as available too. whadda u say?

| @ChrisH If you do create a bounty, it would be wise to make it as UNambitious as possible ... The AmiZilla bounty is an example of how *not* to do it.
What the... I have no idea what you are saying! The money was in the bounty, but no talent showed up to claim it. I think a team of talented people was required to collect it, but outside of ANT's efforts, that team was never manifested itself. The bounty definitions were clear enough, but it was outside the scope of one individual's effort. I think that's why the AmiZilla bounty failed. _________________

It's sounds to me like you're agreeing with what ChrisH said.

If you get muforce/segtracker errors, they are almost certainly bugs that would affect AROS as well, and I'm sure someone on the AROS team would be happy for the reports and/or to receive fixes (if you manage to track them down yourself).
I contribute to the AROS code and have commit access. I haven't looked specifically at Zune, but I certainly would be willing to take a look at the odd bug report for it, though your best bet for bug reports would be to post on Aros Exec or the dev mailing list. Alternatively if you can fix bugs you discover yourself, then commit access to AROS SVN is very easy to get.

| @vidarh: no, the last i checked the most zune apps were working clear of hits. i have traced a few cases of hits related to certain classes in the past if i recall right, that has been mostly fixed up till now, but its worth to keep an eye on it. yet there still are apps that dont wrok correctly wit zune, show strange corruption or do not work at all, like ibrowse. i will come back to that and try to draw some conclusions, eventually i will register on aros exec. alas im rater not able to fix anything myself.

The problem I see is that AmiZilla made a big project far bigger than it needed to be. I'm going from hazy memory (so don't flame me if I get small details wrong), but before any bounty money was paid out I think it was originally required that (1) it work on AmigaOS3, AmigaOS4, MorphOS *and* AROS (I believe this was changed later... but too late), and (2) Firefox had to basically be completely ported.
IMHO it would have been much more likely to attract developer(s) if it (1) gave partial bounties for each Amiga-like OS port (with the first port getting say 70% of the bounty), and (2) broke the bounty down into managable chunks, with partial payment made for reaching particular "milestones". That way the first carrot is FAR FAR easier to reach, and you may just manage to string the donkey (coder) along right to the end of the project - rather than him not even bothering to try because all the carrots are at the top of a very high tree.Last edited by ChrisH on 29-Aug-2010 at 10:07 PM.

Why shouldn't use AROS bugtracker? |

| @ShInKurO im not quite certain what causes the hits. for example there are some issues with trident (a preference program in chris hodges usb poseidon stack) that seem to originate from nlist classes. the zune classes are simple conversions of mui classes for what i know, but there is no problems with mui while under zune the same aplication causes hits. the classes are not exactly the same version in my case, ive been informed the current ones are still in need to be fixed, so i wait, therefore im not sure. but that it _might_ lead to some conclusion what concerns zunes incompatibility since with mui there were never problems with these applicatrions. |

my registration on aros exec is still pending and i dont get any confirmation mail in order to log in, my nick and mail adress both spoken for though, which indicates it isnt me who fails here. in the meantime i wanted to report that nowined tends to redraw the toolbar two times under 68k zune, dunno it this can be observed under x86 aros. just that you know. |

no, it happens with every windows resize. v0.82 is a current version, right? maybe you just do not notice it because it happens too fast on your system? i became aware of that running memtracker (similar to muguardian angel) in the background, which slows the system down a lot. without it it might be overseen even on 68k.
edit: the same applies to practically any action, especially involving the toolbar, other applications like for instance yam usually do not expose such a behaviour. it must be something in nowined code Last edited by wawa on 31-Aug-2010 at 07:08 PM.
